Clondegad and Breckan's advance to U21 B final

July 30, 2010
Clondegad and St. Breckan's/Ballyvaughan qualified for the final of the Under 21 B football championship after their victories at the weekend. Clondegad fought off a stern Clarecastle challenge before eventually winning home thanks to a 1-13 to 0-7 victory. The star of the show was undoubebly Clondegad's Paudge McMahon who notched 1-10 over the hour all bar three of his total coming from play. Despite the scoreline there is no denying the challenge Clarecastle as McMahon's goal midway through the first half was the main difference at the short whistle with Clondegad being 1-6 to 0-5 up. McMahon continued his rich vein of form in the second half and he was ably assisted by Shane Brennan. Clarecastle had Aaron Considine in fine form from placed balls, he notched four placed efforts over the hour and also tagged on a score from play for good measure. Clondegad now progress to a final duel with St.Breckan's and with Francie Neylon, Tony Kelly and Paul Flanagan all expected to be available for that one they will fancy their chances. In the other semi-final St.Breckan's/Ballyvaughan led by the Cormican twins (Conor and Sean) and Stephen Tierney defeated Kilmihil 0-17 to 0-7. The winners had four points on the board before Brendan Egan got Kilmihil off the mark. The result was never in doubt even from the early stages and at half time Breckan's led 0-8 to 0-4. They had three more points on the board before Daniel Blake got Kilmihil off the mark for the second half. However try as they might there was to be no denying Breckan's with top scorer Sean Cormican in fine form.
