Our minor hurlers were well beaten by Doon 4-13 to 0-04 this Friday we take on Fr.Casey's in the football championship at home throw in will be at 7.15.
On Sunday night last our junior hurlers were defeated 2-15 to 2-12 by Old Christians in the first round of this years junior hurling championship. All in St. Patrick's would like to wish Mossy Body of Old Christians a speedy recovery from a serious leg injury he received in the last minute of the game. We got the worst possible start when Old Christians goaled from their first attack. Wayne Cronin had our first score when he converted a 65m free.
Old Christians hit us for two points before Brendan Mullins had a close in free for us. We then hit a purple patch and had two goals on the board in the space of minutes when firstly Wayne Cronin's long range free ended up in the Old Christians net this was quickly followed by a Dave Hurley goal to put us ahead by 2-02 to 1-02 Dave Hurley and Brendan Mullins hit two more points to put us in a strong position with five minutes remaining in the first half.
Our defence then conceded two quick points to leave a goal between the sides. Dave Hurley added another great point from play Old Christians finished the stronger and converted to more frees to leave the half time score 2-05 to Old Christians 1-06. Old Christians started the second half in great style they scored 1-02 in the first five minutes to jump into a three point lead.
Play swung from end to end and we scored five unanswered points from Niall Phelan and a brace each from Christopher Reals and Brendan Mullins to put us ahead by 2-10 to 2-8 with ten minutes remaining. In those remaining minutes Old Christians finished the stronger and scored seven points to our two from Christopher Reals who was now operating at centre forward and proved a hit with four outstanding points from play.
The game finished on a sad note when Old Christians player Mossy Body received a nasty knee injury when he pulled up sharply running for the ball.
