Fr. Casey's win U14's West Football League Final
Seán Finn's met serious competition in the U14's West Football League Final on Tuesday last, 15th July in Cappagh. Our lads had a major challenge on their hands against the Co. Feile champions, who were physically stronger and taller than the Deelsiders. Seán Finn's boys had a difficult start with a single point from the boot of Eoin O'Donnell in the first quarter against 1:9 from Fr. Casey's. We settled and had a brilliant spell facing half time in which we narrowed the margin considerably with two great points from Martin Roche and a bullet of a goal from Conor Lyons. The half-time score showed us with 1:3 to 1:9 for Fr. Casey's.
The 2nd half progressed in a sporting fashion with Fr. Casey's adding a goal and a point to their score early on. Our lads played on giving it their best shot and took any chances that came their way. Eoin O'Donnell scored a lovely point followed by a pointed free from Martin Roche. Our second goal came from Eoin O'Donnell and this brought the scores within 5 points of each other with 2:10 for Fr. Casey's to 2:5 for Seán Finn's. Fr. Casey's were not finished scoring however and they scored another point followed by a goal, dashing any chance we had of catching up, as the game progressed towards the final whistle. The game finished with 3:11 for Fr. Casey's to 2:5 for Seán Finn's.
Many thanks to Seán Hartnett and Tom White for their commitment to training and managing these lads all year. Thanks also to parents and supporters who helped out with transport. The team and scorers lined out as follows: Emmett Walsh, Steve O'Reilly, Adrian Stackpoole, Bob Keogh, Paul White, Darren Jones, Ciaran English, Eoin O'Donnell, (1:2), Seán Stackpoole, Martin Roche, (0:3), Aaron Condon, Patrick Wilmott, Eddie Ryan, Conor Lyons, (1:0), Martin Madden. Subs: Yury O'Connor, Brian Meade & Bud White.
U14 Hurlers win Kildimo tournament
Well done to St Marys U14 hurlers came away from the Kildimo Tournament last weekend with the spoils after beating Kildimo on a scoreline of 1-12 to 1-00 and then beating Pallaskenry on a scoreline of 5-08 to 2-00. Team captain Eoin O'Donnell was presented with the trophy and he thanked the mentors and supporters in his victory speech. Everyone played their part in the win but special mention must go to Darren Jones who was player of the tournament. This win was a great boost for the lads as they prepare for the West Championship. Thanks to Kildimo GAA club for the invitation to the tournament and also for the refreshments served to players & supporters.
U16 football
Sadly our U16 footballers have withdrawn from the county championship after failing to field a team in their last 2 games. This is a real shame but with so many players unavailable recently it was proving impossible to get 15 on the pitch.

Minor Hurlers
Our minor hurlers earned their 2nd win of the campaign with a 4-10 to 3-09 win over Castletown/Ballyagran in Mick Neville park on Friday night last. This was a well deserved win for the lads who trailed by 2 points at half time but really dug deep in the second half to come away with the two points. Team: Anthony supple, Sean White, Jacck Hennessy, Rory Flaherty, Patrick Sheahan, Eoghan O'Connor, Robert White, Jack Coleman, Sean Sheahan, Darren Jones, Shane Hourigan, Tom Ryan and Paul Sheehan.
Minor Football
Our minor footballers play St Kierans this Friday night in Coolcappagh at 7.30pm.
To date our record is somewhat mixed with a defeat to Ballysteen followed by goods wins over St Senans and Knockaderry. A win on Friday night would put us in a very strong position for the A Final when the competition is done and dusted. All supporters would be welcome.

The two remaining games against Monagea and Glin are still to be fixed by the West Bord. At this stage it looks very likely that they will be both on next week.
