O'Sullivan expects Ryan to stay
July 16, 2008
Mickey Ned O'Sullivan is confident that rising Limerick football star Ian Ryan will turn down offers to try his hand in the AFL.
The 19-year-old attacker, who scored 0-5 in the heartbreaking Munster SFC semi-final defeat to Cork and who is expected to feature prominently against Meath this weekend, has been targeted by Australian Rules scouts and has been invited to trials by AFL agent Ricky Nixon at University of Limerick.
But the Limerick manager said: "I don't think Ian is interested in going to Australia. He's in college and looking at a career in teaching.
"Ian is a bright young man and he seems to be more interested in his academic career."
