Munroe delighted with semi-final win
June 30, 2008
Tyrone minor manager Raymond Munroe praised his side's efforts against Cavan last Sunday in Clones after staging a late revival to take a two-point victory and advance to the Ulster MFC decider.
After leading for most of the afternoon, Tyrone fell behind to the Breffni men when Kevin Tierney's shot hit the net five minutes from time, giving Cavan a one-point advantage for the first time in the half.
However, the Red Hands hit back with unanswered scores from Paddy McNiece, Kyle Coney and Ronan Tierney to assure that the young Tyrone men would not endure a shock on the day.
"You have to hand it to those boys," said Munroe.
"They ran themselves into the ground. On the overall game, I'm not saying that the best team won but when you take it out on our first-half performance and Cavan's second-half it leaves it looking like a very tight game. I am just delighted that we were on the right end of it on the scoreboard at the finish."
