Fitzgerald quits Limerick

May 10, 2007

Conor Fitzgerald
Conor Fitzgerald has opted out of the Limerick hurling panel just a month before the Shannonsiders meet Tipperary in the Munster SHC semi-final. The former dual star has cited work commitments as his reason for quitting, and while his departure from the hurling squad will raise hopes of him reviving his football career, he isn't expected to link up with Mickey Ned O'Sullivan charges any time soon. The Adare clubman had been an ever present with the Limerick hurlers over the last five seasons. He is the holder of two All-Ireland under 21 hurling medals and was a member of the Limerick under 21 football team which reached the All-Ireland final in 2000.
