Ulster Junior FC Championship quarter-final

November 12, 2002
CORDUFF V. LISNASKEAMonaghan junior champions Corduff will taste their first action at provincial level when they take on Fermanagh side Lisnaskea Emmet's in the quarter-final of the Paul Kerr Cup at Cremartin this Sunday at 2.00 p.m.. Lisnaskea had a very facile victory in their opening game against John Mitchells of Antrim but they can expect a much tougher time against the south Monaghan outfit. Corduff proved too strong for Aughnamullen in the Monaghan final and they will see Sunday's game as a chance to test their mettle for the higher grade in Monaghan next year. Corduff have a good sprinkling of young players in their side but they will still look to the more experienced players like Frank and Seamus McEnaney as well as Raymond Byrne and George McKitterick to backbone their effort. Mark Gilsenan has been in good scoring form and could influence the outcome while Lisnaskea will be looking for a repeat of his eleven points scoring achievement from Kevin Maguire. Corduff are given the nod to advance but they will have to exerciser caution. BANK OF SCOTLAND ULSTER INTERMEDIATE CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP REPLAY DRUMGOON V SEAN O'LEARY'S These two sides served up a thriller last time out and there is every reason to expect that this Sunday's replay at 2.00p.m. in O'Neill Park, Clontibret, will be just as interesting. Drumgoon team manager Paddy Bates rated Sean O 'Leary's as the toughest team they have played in the last few years and now that both have a good game under their belts there is every reason to expect another thriller. Bates will be drawing up plans to deal with Derry county player Dermot Dougan who proved problematic at times in the drawn game and he will also look to get his team to establish a foothold in the game from start as they allowed Newbridge a good start last time out. The drawn game was one of noughts and crosses with fortunes fluctuating throughout and Bates will no doubt be a little worried at the manner in which his side conceded a couple of goals vital times. Drumgoon will also hope to have their regular centre half back Michael A. Hannon available and his return would be a great boost while Peter Hand did his prospects of getting a starting place no harm atall with a few nice points in the second half. It promises to be fast and furious in energy sapping conditions and if both sides can replicate the hunger and commitment they displayed in the drawn game the fans are in for a treat.
