Former Galway hurling coach Mattie Kenny is the new manager of Dublin club Cuala.

Kenny has served alongside Anthony Cunningham and Tom Helebert on the Galway management team for two years before stepping down in the wake of last summer's All-Ireland SHC quarter-final defeat to Clare. After leading the Tribesmen to the brink of a first Liam MacCarthy Cup success in 24 years in 2012, the trio failed to build on that progress last year.

Tynagh-Abbey-Duniry clubman Kenny had also been involved with Galway's 2005 and 2011 All-Ireland U21 winning teams. Tweet
