Gordon back for Down

Down's Dan Gordon
Down have been handed a major boost ahead of their All-Ireland SFC preparations with the return of midfielder Dan Gordon to the squad.

Gordon had opted to take an indefinite break from the squad back in February, citing a loss of form for his absence.

However, Mourne boss James McCartan has managed to sway Gordon back into the set-up after an excellent NFL campaign which will see them competition in Division One for next season.

"We are delighted to have him back and to be successful you have to have your pick from the best players - Dan would fall into that category. He was at training the other night and was in excellent nick," said McCartan.

McCartan also hasn't ruled out the possibility of the Loughisland man playing in Sunday week's Division Two final against Armagh.

"Who knows? We have a challenge game next weekend and we hope to have him there. I don't know. It might not be fair on him or the rest if the boys," he stated.
