Woodlock's bad break

Tipperary midfielder James Woodlock
James Woodlock faces a battle to be fit for next year's Munster hurling championship after breaking two bones in his leg during last Sunday's Tipperary hurling final between Drom & Inch and Thurles Sarsfields. The county star was stretchered off late in the game after sustaining the horrific injury which is expected to keep him out of action for up to eight months. Woodlock was due to undergo surgery at Waterford Regional Hospital last night and faces a long rehabilitation process, including some time in a protective casing, as he aims to get his career back on track. The 23-year-old Drom & Inch captain suffered the injury during an accidental collision with Tipperary team-mate Pádraic Maher, a member of the victorious Thurles Sarsfields team. Drom & Inch club secretary Alice Costello told the Irish Examiner: "James is having an operation and will have pins inserted. He was passing out with the pain and we were very concerned at the time."
