Bealin back in management

Paul Bealin
Former Carlow football boss Paul Bealin has made a quick return to management with Kildare club side Monasterevin. The ex-Dublin star, who also previously managed Wexford, was appointed to his new role on Monday night and Monasterevin chairman John Forde hopes he can lead them to intermediate championship glory in 2009. "He has been appointed but we are just in the initial stages of it. There are a lot of things to be ironed out still. I felt we needed someone to take us to the next level. We've been there or thereabouts for the last number of years and hopefully he will bring us to this level," Forde said. An All Ireland winner with Dublin in 1995, Bealin was player/manager of Ballyboden, St Enda's when they claimed an Dublin SFC title in 1996. In 2005, he became Wexford senior football boss, having guided Mullahoran to a Cavan SFC final appearance in the same year. More recently, he managed Carlow but resigned due to work commitments and was a candidate for the Dublin job before it went to his former midfield partner Pat Gilroy.
