Ryan named as Carlow boss

November 27, 2008
Waterford native Kevin Ryan has been named as the Carlow hurling manager following an announcement by the County Board on Wednesday night. Ryan takes over from Jim Greene, who stepped down in controversial circumstances a couple of months ago, having lead the county to their first Christy Ring Cup title. The Mount Sion clubman was linked with the Wexford hurling job earlier in the year, having managed Oulart the Ballagh, who were defeated in the county final. However, former Tipperary hurler Colm Bonner has been handed that role. Birr manager Pat Joe Whelehan had been favourite for the position, but ruled himself out of the running and the Carlow County Board have opted for Ryan.
