Parnell Park venue for Carlow game
November 20, 2008
Louth's 2009 Leinster SFC opener against Carlow will be played in Dublin's Parnell Park on Sunday May 17.
It's a familiar stomping ground for the Wee County, who must be relieved at avoiding the potential pitfall of a trek to Dr Cullen Park. The neutral venue certainly boosts the Reds' chances against a team now managed by Luke Dempsey.
Should the Wee County prevail - in what is the opening contest in the 2009 football championship season - their reward is another trip to the capital for a Leinster quarter-final clash with Laois at Croke Park on June 17.
Louth's competitive year starts as early as January 4 when they take on UCD in the first round of the O'Byrne Cup. The students vanquished Eamonn McEneaney's charges from the corresponding competition last year.
