Boylan rules out return to inter-county fold

Ireland manager Sean Boylan
Sean Boylan has no plans to get back into inter-county management, despite admitting that he is getting a massive thrill out of managing the Ireland International Rules squad. The four-time All-Ireland winning Meath manager is currently putting a panel together for next month's two-test series in Australia, confirming that he will finalise his squad on October 4. Since ending his 23-year involvement with the Royals in 2005, the Dunboyne herbalist has been linked with numerous inter-county posts, but insists his days in inter-county management are over. "That time has passed," he said. "I have been fortunate enough to have been made a few offers over the past few years and it's very nice that people even consider you. But sometimes things would be very impractical. The sort I am is I'm either in it or I'm not. I do it 100 per cent or I don't do it at all. It's more than just obliging people - it's doing what's right." Boylan was highly critical of Australia's tactics in the ill-fated 2006 series, but he is happy to be on the line this year. "I'm really getting a buzz out of it. The lads are great - I can't get over how courteous they are. "They really want to do it and that's why they're involved. We had the likes of Graham Canty and Pearse O'Neill coming up from Cork the week after they were beaten in the All-Ireland semi-final. "Some lads are going home in the evening to play club championship the next day. It's a huge commitment, but it shows what this means to them and because of that it's up to us to get it right for them."
