Meath captain Eoghan Frayne is in danger of missing the start of the 2026 Allianz Football League due to a calf muscle injury.

The highly-rated forward, who was an ever-present for the Royal County in their surprise run to this year’s All-Ireland SFC semi-finals, missed Summerhill’s heavy Leinster club SFC quarter-final defeat to Athy last Saturday evening with the injury which is threatening his participation in the early rounds of the Allianz League.

Robbie Brennan’s side were recently granted permission to play their ‘home’ games at Croke Park due to redevelopment works at Páirc Tailteann. In the provisional fixtures, Meath will be at home to Derry, Louth and Tyrone in Division 2, and these ties will be played as curtain-raisers to Dublin’s Division 1 clashes against Donegal, Monaghan and Armagh.

“He had a Grade C tear on his calf muscle, so he could be out for two to three months," Summerhill manager David Clare told reporters in Newbridge.

"He went down to Jim O'Donovan, the former Munster and Leinster (team doctor) player down in Mullingar, but there was nothing that could be done."
