Naomh Eoin dethroned Cushendall with a 1-26 to 1-22 victory (AET) in Dunsilly this evening to move into the Antrim senior hurling championship final.

A thrilling encounter had saw the holders running up a 0-11 to 0-7 lead by half-time in normal time, but they’d have Neil McManus sent off early in the restart and concede also goal during that period.

Ciaran Neeson hit back with a goal for Cushendall to make it 1-16 to 1-11 in the 47th minute, but their west Belfast counterparts came with a late push which saw them outscoring them by 0-7 to 0-2 during the closing quarter to force extra time.

Led by ‘Man of the Match’ Conor Johnston, Naomh Eoin powered into a four-point lead by half-time in extra time and would end up winning out by the same margin to leave themselves a win away from their first county SHC crown since 1973.

Tomorrow’s other semi-final in the Saffron County sees 2022 champions Dunloy Cuchulainns taking on Loughgiel Shamrocks at 3.30pm.
