The Kilcormac Killoughey supporter who stormed the pitch following their recent Leinster club SHC quarter-final defeat to Ballyhale Shamrocks is facing a two-year ban from all GAA activity.

Brendan Monaghan has been hit with a proposed 96-week ban for entering the UPMC Nowlan Park pitch after the game and attempting to strike Ballyhale and Kilkenny forward Adrian Mullen. Wearing a K/K jersey, Monaghan is well-known in Offaly GAA circles and was handed the lengthy ban by Leinster GAA’s CCC after the incident was captured by TG4 cameras.

Two-match bans have also been proposed for Kilcormac/Killoughey players Charlie Mitchell and Cillian Kiely for contributing to a melee after the final whistle. The aforementioned Mullen also picked up a one-match ban, which he served last Sunday week when Ballyhale saw off Clough/Ballacolla to reach the provincial final. However, he is unlikely to play any further part in their club campaign after sustaining a broken thumb against K/K, an incident which manager Henry Shefflin described as a ‘dirty belt’.

As it was K/K’s last championship outing of the year, the bans for Mitchell and Kiely will carry over into next year’s Offaly SHC.
