Cork bounced back from their opening round defeat to Tipperary by dishing out a 4-18 to 0-21 defeat to Limerick at SuperValu Pairc Ui Chaoimh last night.

After having had a bye in round one last week, Limerick opened up an early four-point lead ahead of the Rebels levelling at 0-8 each and then striking their first goal via Michael Tadhg Brosnan and they’d net again from a Barry Walsh 21-metre free to take in a 2-11 to 0-11 lead at the half.

Walsh found the Shannonsiders’ net again from the penalty spot six minutes into the restart and Jonny Murohy would put the Leesiders 10 up late on with a fourth goal to put the result beyond any doubt.

In Dungarvan, Tipperary battled their way to a 0-16 to 0-15 win over Waterford for their second victory of the campaign.

The holders had led by 0-11 to 0-10 at half-time thanks to Cormac Fitzpatrick’s ‘65’, but fell behind early in the second-half after points from Mark Hartley and Davy Comeford (free) sailed over their crossbar.

Fitzpatrick (free) squared things up ahead of Conor Tobin putting Waterford ahead again, but two more Fitzpatrick frees down the home stretch would prove key for Tipp as the Deise couldn’t find an equaliser late on.
