Former Ireland rugby internationals Sean Cronin and Ian Keatley are celebrating back-to-back football championship wins in Limerick.

A year on from helping Ahane to a JFC ‘A’ title, which was their first football championship success since the 1930s, the duo savoured Premier JFC ‘A’ glory last weekend thanks to a 0-10 to 0-9 victory over Fr Casey’s in Askeaton. The east Limerick club can now look forward to playing in the IFC in 2026 following their back-to-back promotions.

While ex-Munster fly half Keatley missed the final through injury, former Leinster hooker Cronin played a starring role at centre back for the side managed by former Clare midfield colossus Gary Brennan.

Speaking to the Limerick Leader afterwards, Cronin enthused: “It’s great. It’s a bit surreal really. I suppose the journey we’ve been on over the last two years, going up last year and today against a very tough Fr Casey’s team.

“Ah look it’s great, you can see the support here today from the parish and over the last week with being in the final. It’s great, it’s fantastic and there’s a great buzz. I’m wrecked and happy to get over the line.”
