Kildalkey 1-14 Dunboyne 0-10

On a wet night in Fr Plunkett Park on Thursday evening the hosts faced last years finalists Dunboyne in Round 3 of the JHC.

With all 4 teams on 2 points with a win and a loss each everything depended on the last game for everyone.

Dunboyne started well with 3 points and it took a while for Kildalkey to settle but the backs started to get to grips with their opponents. 

Noel Kirby got his team up and running with a point from a free and Lee Coldrick cut in for a point on the run Arron Byas Kirby with 3 frees and Paddy Casey with one from a difficult angle brought their tally to 0-7 but Dunboyne had 0-6 at the break all of their scores coming from play.

There was nothing in this game so Kildalkey knew they had to dig deep to progress and dig deep is what they done Kirby and  brothers Francy and Derek Doran raised white flags long serving Neil Hackett hit back for Dunboyne.

2 huge frees from Kirby and goalie Arron Traynor put the blues in front and then Paddy Casey jumped highest when a long ball was hit in got a touch and the ball went into the net he hit the next point too and Noel Kirby had the last say to leave the final score Kildalkey 1-14 to Dunboyne's 0-10 on a hard night for hurling.

It would be impossible to single any 1 player out as every player put their bodies on the line and worked themselves into the ground to get the win and all made a great contribution to get their team to a semi final in 2 weeks time .
