Moylagh 2-14 Cortown 1-13
Moylagh inflicted a first league defeat in three games on Cortown last Sunday to revive their promotion prospects following this ferociously competition clash.
The visitors acquitted themselves very well against the elements in the opening half with the sides level on several occasions. However the early introduction of County man Shane Gibney alongside a brace of two-pointers from the prolific Sean Reilly helped to turn the tide in Peadar Byrne's teams favour.
Cortown were good in that opening period though, enjoying long periods of possession which helped to yield scores from Jake Coyne, Tommy Smith and the returning Oisin Smith. Luca Brady's first half goal left just three between the sides at the break with Moylagh leading 1-9 to 1-6.
Despite having the wind at their backs in the second half, Moylagh's second goal proved a decisive score which Cortown failed to recover from despite plugging away until the end. Further points from Coyne and Kian Fitzsimons were not enough to revive Davy Wright's charges.
Attention now turns to a huge game this Sunday against Drumconrath with a win all but likely to secure Cortown's status in the Division with 3 games remaining.
