Bective 2-08 St Brigids 3-09
Bank Holiday Sunday morning saw us take to the road on a trip to Bective in a top of the table clash to see which of us could the keep the unbeaten run going.
The hosts settled quicker and had a goal and four points on the board by the tenth minute with our only reply, a goal by Cian Blake coming in the middle of that scoring spree in the seventh minute. Remarkably that 1-04 that we conceded in the first ten minutes was the same as we conceded in the final fifty minutes as our defence knuckled down and worked tirelessly harrying and shutting down the space for the Bective attackers. Michael Flood hit our second goal in the fifteenth minute followed by three pointed frees by Cormac Browne and a point from play from Rory Collins to bring our tally to 2-04. Bective hit the last score of the half, a point to leave us leading by two minors at the break
Michael started the second half scoring for us with a point within two minutes of the restart but Bective got their purple patch going scoring a two pointer followed by a goal and a point to move themselves three ahead with seven minutes left to play. Brigids suddenly came back to life and the ageless AJ Gilsenan started the comeback with a well taken goal followed by points from Luke Blake, Cian Blake, AJ again and Cormac finished of the scoring for the match which left us coming out on top by four and taking the win and the top of the table position.
A strong defensive showing with Leo McCann, Michael Flood, AJ Gilsenan and Fergal Ingram getting the mention today for their efficiency and productivity. Also a mention to Joesph Blake for putting in a good shift on his temporary return to the Brigids jersey.
