By the skin of their teeth, Navan O’Mahony’s maintained their unbeaten record in the Div 2 FL, salvaging a draw against Walterstown, with Aodhan Mallon's late two-point free securing a share of the spoils.
Walterstown made the brighter start and opened the scoring inside the opening minute with a point from play. Mallon responded from a free for the hosts before Walterstown began to assert themselves, registering four unanswered scores, including a two-point free and another placed ball, to establish an early 0-5 to 0-1 advantage.
Cormac Nugent and Evan Coffey kicked points for O’Mahony’s, but Walterstown continued to keep the scoreboard ticking over. A two-point effort from play in the fifteenth minute helped the visitors stretch their lead.
After a good run, Coffey rattled the net in the twenty-eighth minutes, reducing the gap approaching half time. However, Walterstown responded immediately with a point and then struck for a goal of their own before the break to head in with a seven-point lead.

Eoghan Nugent opened the scoring after the restart before Paddy Dillon kicked an impressive two-point score to reduce the gap.
Walterstown steadied themselves with a free, but Dillon struck again with another two-pointer and Mallon followed with a great two-point effort from play. When Coffey added a point moments later, the sides were level for the first time in the match.
The momentum appeared to shift again when Walterstown hit their second goal with ten minutes remaining and followed up with another point to edge four clear. Robbie Keelaghan and Mallon narrowed the gap with well-taken points before Walterstown edged three ahead once more from a free.
With time running out, Ronan Clarke pointed from play to leave two between the sides and O’Mahony’s chasing a two-pointer. In the sixty-second minute, Coffey was fouled on the edge of the arc. Mallon held his nerve to convert a the resulting two-point free, bringing the sides level. Indeed O’Mahony’s could have edged ahead at the death, with a wide from a late free and the spoils were shared.
