Kiltale will take on Ratoath in this years Senior Hurling Championship final after yesterday’s two semi finals at Pairc Tailteann.
Kiltale 2-20 Kilmessan 0-13
In a low key opening thirty Kiltale took a 1-05 to 0-5 interval lead to the dressing room. Both sides were guilty of some very poor shooting. Peter Durnin got the all important goal for the winners after great work by Ross Ryan. The game sprung to life in the second half. Playing with the wind and with Jack Regan and James Kelly outstanding John Donoghue’s men took over. Four points separated the teams until a super Kelly goal opened up a 2-11 to 0-10 lead. Two long range efforts from half back Conor Ryan were the highlight of the closing ten minutes as Kiltale returned to the county final.
Ratoath 5-18 Trim 0-22
Holders Ratoath were made to battle all the way by Trim in the second semi final of the day. In a repeat of last years decider the team in Red, with full forward James Murray showing the way, led 0-12 to 1-8 at the break. Bryan McMahon raised the first of five green flags for the Jubilee Cup holders. The sides were level 0-16 to 1-13 after ten minutes of the second half. Declan Murray’s men were playing some outstanding hurling and led 0-21 to 1-15 by the end of the third quarter. A Podge O’Hanrahan goal levelled matters and from there on the holders took control. Two quick fire goals from Daithi McGowan and Cian Rogers put the issue beyond doubt.
Kiltale and Ratoath met in the opening game of this years championship and despite been down to 14 men for almost 40 minutes the champions forged out a comfortable ten point win at Trim.
