Kilskyre Moylagh 4-23 Boardsmill 3-13
Both teams were glad to get a run out in Páirc Tailteann early September day where there was a difficult breeze to contend with but otherwise a super playing surface as always and little or no rain.
Kilskyre Moylagh were slow to get going and Boardsmill took advantage in the early minutes taking four points to one lead. A nicely worked point from play executed by Sean Tunney got things underway for the North Meath side as both sides exchanged points.
Kilskyre Moylagh pushed hard for goals early, but shots were easily saved which kept things tight. That was until the seventeenth minute when a wonderful, angled point from play by the sharp shooting Tom Shine was followed up by that elusive goal from Darren O’Higgins for Kilskyre Moylagh. That was the spark that sprung the team into life with points from Daire Shine and Willie McGrath taking Kilskyre Moylagh into the break with a 1:11 to 0:07 lead.
Whatever chance Boardsmill had of rallying was snuffed out by another goal from O’Higgins just two
minutes into the second half and another from McGrath a few minutes later. Boardsmill continued to battle keeping their scores ticking over but then the final nail, a goal from man of the match Fergal Flynn on the 52nd minute ended this as a contest. Kilskyre Moylagh got sloppy in the final quarter conceding two goals which is something they will want to work on as their season progresses.
All in all, job done some very good performances from Kilskyre Moylagh but there is some tidying up work needs to be done. The semi finals are set for Saturday the 4th of October in Trim.
