Athboy was the venue for thei Meath Senior Hurling Championship Group B round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at 15.00.
Mark Leavy was first off the mark after Barron & Treacy combined to free him up. Tracey scored the next one himself. One free after another for the town side leveled proceedings- the second dropping short and was tapped over. The teams then traded frees- Nolan for the Village. Treacy gathered Fagans puc out and converted to go one up before Nolan slotted over a brace of frees - Leavy being the one fouled. O Mahonys bring it back to two with a point from play. Adam Kelly was pulled down whilst trying to clear the ball and up stepped Nolan to split the posts from 75 yds. Another free dropped short for the team in blue and this time they raised a green flag when the defence failed to deal with it. Draw match. Another fine puc out from Fagan was caught this time by Rian Fay who off loaded to Barron for a point. Our next score came a similar way , this time how ever Leavy collected and scored himself. O Mahonys have the last say of the first however from yet another free to leave it 0-9 to 1-5
Dunderry scored directly from the throw in to start the second half- Kelly the provider. Three from play for NOM saw them take the lead by one for the first time. A defensive combination involving Ó Laoire, Leavy and Fay - that's Conor and Darragh, led to the other Leavy driving over from distance to tie up the score again. Niall Darcy and Rian Fay repeated the play and no one better that Leavy to hit back to back points. Four more frees were next - three to one against Dunderry. Barron collected another fine puc out from Faygo and passed out to Leavy to leave it level again. Substitute Jamie Duffy- in his first game back since getting his hand broken the last time the sides met- drove up the line and fed Kelly who duly put us up by one. Two more frees to the town side swapped the lead once more. Cathal Barron equalised before a Nolan free put our noses in front again. A fine catch and attempted clearance from Níall Ó Laoire resulted in him being fouled for the free. One up with thirtyfour and a half minutes on the clock. Indiscipline cost us another convertible free being over turned and allowed the team in blue get the ball heading for Fosterfields - out for a 65 which was duly converted. Game over. Draw match. 0-17 to 1-14
