The late Matthew Kennedy

We are sad to report the passing of Matthew Kennedy.

There was a minutes silence for Matthew before Dunboyne's SHC opening round game against Longwood last Saturday and sympathy was also extended to his family at last Mondays County Board meeting.

His club St. Peters Dunboyne took to social media to pay tribute to their former player.

It is with deepest sympathy and a heavy heart that we learned of the tragic passing of our team, club mate and friend Matthew Kennedy following an accident in Vietnam.

Our sincere condolences to his parents Gerard and Elaine, his brothers Brian, John and Liam, his extended family and close circle of friends.

Matthew played with the club from nursery through to adult teams, and winning many friends and medals along the way – in his minor year his team won the Minor county shield along side his close friends.

Matthew played at all levels after minor and most recently with the premier 1 side.

Matthew always gave 100% and his height advantage was always used to the maximum and with great affect – he had no fear of any opponent.

Once you experienced Matthews smile it was infectious, and his attitude was to be admired

Matthews heartbreaking loss will touch all teams and members in our club and community
