Tributes were paid to Meath GAA President Mena Geraghty who passed away recently at the age of 92 while former Dunshaughlin and Meath county player Denis Kealy who lost his life in a car accident was also remembered at last night’s county committee meeting.

At the start of the meeting a moment’s silence was observed as a mark of respect to the Kilbride club woman who held a number of positions within the club and was a regular at county board meetings for many years.

Kilbride delegate David Harford said Mena was club treasurer for over a decade, and also involved in fundraising for many years. He also said she was a stalwart Meath supporter and was proud to be elected a President of Meath GAA.

Mairead Delany paid an emotional tribute to the late Denis Kealy who was a member of a family that gave outstanding service to the Dunshaughlin club over many years. She extended her sympathy to his wife and three boys as well as his mother and father and brothers and sisters. She also thanked the large number of people who travelled to Dunshaughlin to pay their respect and attend the funeral Mass.

Sympathy was also extended to the family of Matthew Kennedy from the St Peter’s Dunboyne club who died at the weekend following a motorbike accident in Thailand.
