Moylagh's Darren Gibney

Moylagh 0-13 Dunsany 0-10 (AET)

Moylagh made it through to the Junior A Football Championship final for the second time in three years after this win over Dunsany under lights in Castletown.

With the change in next years championship structure this means Moylagh along with their opponents in the final will be playing in the intermediate ranks next year.

This was a  really championship battle from start to finish, it took until the 12th minute for the opening score, a Dunsany point from a free. Sean Really opened Moylagh’s account on the quarter hour mark but due to poor shooting and a good Dunsany defence this was the winners only score of the half.

Rory Gibney opening the scoring for Moylagh in the second half,  but Dunsany hit back with two point of their own to take a five point lead and after forty minutes.

Moylagh never gave up and with Alan McCann taking the game to Dunsany they started to put good moves together and dominate all over the field resulting in points from Emmet Grall, Darren Gibney and Sean Reilly.

Dunsany hit back with a well taken score by their corner forward  and with seven minutes remaining there was three points between the teams.

Sean Reilly converted a free and this followed by another Darren Gibney point to leave the minimum between the teams entering the final few minutes. Both sides missed chances before Alan McCann put Padraic Traynor through for the equalizing score, 0-8 each, and send the game into extra time.

With the momentum now with Moylagh they came flying out off the blocks for the first period of extra time and kicked four points through Joe Melia, Sean Reilly and a brace from Eanna Brody to give Moylagh a four point lead at the turn around.

Dunsany never gave up and hit two point in the second half of extra time but it Moylagh who would get the last score through the hard working Darren Gibney to put them through to the Junior A final and back up in the intermediate ranks for first time in thirty five years.
