Naomh Mairtin's Sam Mulroy

NH MAIRTIN 4-12

DUNDALK GAELS 0-6

Sam Mulroy was once again the star of the show as Naomh Mairtin cruised into another Senior Championship semi-final.

The Louth player claimed a hat-trick as his side simply blew away the challenge of Dundalk Gaels at Darver on Sunday to keep alive their hopes of landing the Joe Ward.

The first score of the game came from the boot of Derek Crilly to see the Dundalk side take the lead, but their joy was short-lived as Mulroy opened the Mairtins account with a goal on four minutes.

That was the signal for the Monasterboice side to take control of the game and they added points from Tom Gray and Mulroy to open up a 1-6 to 0-3 lead at half time. Eanna McSorley and Gerard McSorley replied with points for the Gaels.

The Ramparts side needed something dramatic to get back into the game but it never looked likely as the Mairtins continued to dominate. The third quarter belonged to Conor Whelan as he added three successive points before finding the net for the Mairtins second goal at the end of the third quarter.

Within a minute Mulroy had his second of the evening to pile on the misery for the Gaels. That allowed the Monasterboice men to cruise home and two minutes from the end Mulroy completed hi hat-trick.
