biggest travesty for me is Tallaght - 5 clubs (Croi Ro Naofa, Kevins/Killians, Marks, Thomas Davis and Annes) None of them a very strong contender across either code for the senior leagues. Real shame for a place with a population of nearly 100k. AthCliath87 (Dublin) - Posts: 345 - 01/12/2015 12:31:51 1810775 Link 0 |

Ballymena possibly? ~30k people (although its predominantly unionist) only All Saints club represents the town. There are other clubs like Ahoghill and Portglenone in the Ballymena council area then. Whammo86 (Antrim) - Posts: 4516 - 01/12/2015 13:22:52 1810790 Link 0 |
Are we including Dublin suburbs? Brianmac78 (Dublin) - Posts: 1168 - 01/12/2015 13:25:46 1810793 Link 0 |
Balbriggan. Declared a gaa blackspot by Dublin GAA, along with tallaght and (I think) clondalkin, which for me, is the worst flack (Dublin) - Posts: 1054 - 01/12/2015 13:26:02 1810795 Link 0 |
North Belfast only has two clubs, Ardoyne and Pearses, which is a sad state of affairs. Soccer is the No.1 sport amongst young Catholics by a long distance in North Belfast. Ulsterman (Antrim) - Posts: 9816 - 01/12/2015 13:28:46 1810799 Link 0 |

Yes it is disappointing how poor GAA participation is in quite a lot of Dublin.Tallaght is weak.Clondalkin is weak.City centre, both sides of the Liffey, very weak to non-existent.The large rugby strongholds of south Dublin, forget about it.We are riding the crest of a wave at the minute, but there is so much work to be done to make sure we don't fall away. cuederocket (Dublin) - Posts: 5084 - 01/12/2015 14:53:50 1810851 Link 0 |
UlsterMan, there are plenty of really good footballers and hurlers from North Belfast playing, unfortunately not for either of the 2 clubs mentioned. St Endas and to an extent St Johns have a lot of their players from antrim road/ New Lodge area. the_watcher (Antrim) - Posts: 128 - 01/12/2015 15:08:45 1810857 Link 0 |
