Ive no complaints with RTes GAA coverage.
Its the RWC at the moment so obviously Rugbys going to be at the top of the agenda.
I wouldnt be too worried about this type of thing these days.
The GAA has a disgraceful culture of violence embedded into it, and in recent times players and pundits have been queuing up to essentially say its okay to cheat in order to win ("sure its win at all costs ya know"). The abhorrent way that managers and supporters have backed their inter county players after incidents of diving, sledging, cynical fouling and violence has left me feeling a bit disillusioned tbh.
Rugby people, whether we like it or not, behave with lot more honour, integrity, and dignity, so good luck to them.

You do make a valid point re the disgraceful lack of condemnation of certain players and the way they behave on the field. In particular there's one county that seems to be immune to criticism and they can behave any way they want and the media won't touch them. "Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh sure lads, what happens on the field stays on the field" ahahahahahahahahahaha, nod nod, wink wink, say no more.

Of all the dirty antics I've seen in any game of sport, the worst has come on the rugby field when Leo Cullen got eye gouged. Horrendous, unforgivable, inexcusable act. They are not holier than thou by any means.

Criticism has to be looked at and why some are not criticised or when they are feel there is a conspiracy against them....
Rugby has some horrible instances occur but the discipline system is very good and the bans are organised and ran well.....

That gouge on Cullen was nasty alright. Seamus Moynihan got similar against Cork a few years back. I saw Peadar Carton break a Tipp lads jaw in the worst stroke I've seen a pitch. Probably worth new thread !

True. The GAA's disciplinary system is a joke.

The GAAs disciplinary system is a farce at times but is it any worse than other sports? Two Scottish rugby players were suspended last Tuesday following an incident in a game last Saturday, after a hearing that went on for something like 10 hours. Almost everyone in rugby except the Scots thought the ban was fair. They appealed it and it was announced yesterday, the day before their biggest game in 4 years, that their ban has been lifted. In America their biggest sports star went to court to get a ban overturned. But only in the GAA etc...

Seamus Moynihan was probably the most cynical full back I ever saw play the game. In 2002 what he didn't do to Colin Corkery was unbelievable. Corkery got no protection for the ref or the upmires (no surprise there).Corkery got sent off late in the second half. Moynihan was the king of pulling jerseys and on that day he nearly rode around Croke Park on Corkerys back. He was nowhere near the great player people claim. Stephen O'Brien was a far footballer as was Mick Lyons.

Huuh! I didn't even know Argentina (or is it orgentina) played rugger. This must be the equivalent of losing to the Kilkenny footballers

I don't think it's ever actually been proved, source :-) it must be about the twentieth most popular game there, but. Something like here, I suppose, huh huh!

Another RTE Six One News and Sport (Sunday). Another disappointment for football and hurling fans. Fourteen county finals and one club championship match all rolled into just 20 seconds. Brief highlights of the TG4 covered Monaghan and Donegal Finals but no results of any other games. To add insult to injury we are then informed that we can get details of those matches from RTE online. No other sports are treated with this level of contempt. Football and hurling supporters the length and breadth of Ireland like to know the outcome of all county finals not just their own and rather than take the 60 seconds to read those results RTE 6.01 tells us to go elsewhere for the service we pay them to provide. County Finals are part of the All Ireland Club Championships and (given today's attendance figures) it's about time RTE realised that and began to treat them with the respect they deserve.

Contempt ?

Provide a URL showing us that the majority of RTE News viewers are GAA supporters and don't have an interest in other sports especially rugby. This topic is groundhog day whinging and nothing else. All talk with so-called facts without a single proactive idea about how to remedy your 'plight'. If that's your only worry in life you've a charmed existence and will live to a ripe old age.

In all fairness GreenandRed it's not a lot to ask to read out 25 results . The same thing happened on the Nine O Clock News .

It isn't Greengrass, as he says 1 minute to do so. And it's always nice for players of all levels and ages to get a mention in media. But rather than find out why they didn't do so. For such a GAA man from Dublin why does he never post about GAA?

Levels of contempt??? There isn't any contempt.
Football and hurling supporters can find out results on the website. It would take more than 60 seconds to read out all those finals results.

groundhog day is spot on especially when these posters have no proof they've ever tried contact RTE about making changes.

that would take a minute plus to read all those results out and there isn't time especially for club results.

It was a typo Ormond. 15 results not 25. One minute is not a lot to ask from our national broadcaster . There will be more time now that our rugby team has departed the scene .

15 results in a minute still isn't enough time. RTE are not going to read all these games out on news. Show them on screen perhaps but there isn't time or interest across country as a whole for all those games to get that attention

Just think some GAA people are feeling slighted for no good reason. As a hurling man who doesnt follow rugby, have to say I think it is ridiculous to expect the national broadcaster to read out ever county final result. That is what local radio was invented for and since every local station can now be accessed online nationally and beyond, people have no excuse. If it was in the remit of RTE News to read out every county final where would they stop? For parity of esteem they would have to read out all womens' gaa and comogie county results too. And again for the sake of parity they would have to extend it to other sports as well i.e. read out all A.I.L. rugby results, Leinster senior league soccer, hockey results etc. The broadcast would go on for 10 mins and few enough people would have an interest in these niche results. Maybe the disgruntled need to lobby for the return of Sean Og O Callaghan's Gaa results programme on radio. That should be enough to satisfy them!
