the difference with somebody like mayweather is the accomplishments are there for all to see over a long period of time...if an irish boxer had bet numerous no name opponents he would be slagged off for fighting easy opponents or bums...and the promotion with mayweather doesnt come across as contrived and as forced as this does..

How long would Croke Park survive if it's sole income was from footballing and hurling gate receipts ? They won't even make an effort to try and fill it for most qualifier or knockout games by publicising it to tourists and take their money to see our great games. Someone that knows McGregor should ask him to wear a Sarsfieldsir Dublin jersey for a press conference and plug the GAA. He may not ever fight in Croker but could encourage a few Tanks too.

James Toney's UFC fight doesn't prove anything. First off, it was an MMA fight, not a boxing match. If Barcelona FC took on the New York Yankees in Baseball, Barca would lose too. But it wouldn't prove anything. And vice versa. A boxer beating an MMA fighter in a boxing match wouldn't prove much either.
Secondly, James Toney was long, long past his prime when this fight took place. One of the greats, yes, but 15 years past his prime. I actually really hope he packs it in, before he gets badly hurt.
