McGregor could fill Croker a few times over hurlingdub - I don't think you realise just how popular MMA is in Ireland. And for you to call the sport a joke is just plain snobery. By that logic, Boxing shouldn't be considered a sport either - and that's just preposterous.

People would attend for the atmosphere and o be at the event. Of course you would be watching the screens but it would still be epic.

Fighters in the ufc were in shock at how good the atmosphere was when it came to Dublin. They would be scrambling at the chance to get on this card.

But here we go again, residents, Dublin city council and so called "purist" gaa keyboard warriors will no doubt put a halt to it. If you don't like it then don't go. You can like more than one sport you know!

If he wins a WT there will be massive desire to see him live in Dublin

His last event here was a massive success... sold out the O2

It was on Terrestial Irish TV and performed very well there too - reached 500,000 viewers on 3e

So all in all... if he wins the title... there will be a big crowd in Croke Park

The hype and marketing backed by the UFC will see to that

He doesnt have to win a world title. His next fight is for the world title which would make the demand even bigger than if he was a reigning champion I'd imagine.

Doesn't matter anyway because it wont be coming to Croke Park and the main reason is due to the time difference. They can sell a PPV for a States audience in the afternoon so it would have to be in the early hours of the morning which they cant get a license for in Croke Park.

thats all they should be focussing on right now.
would probably fill it alright as its a once off event
irish people get roped into one off events better than anywhere i would reckon
you have people who say they cannot afford to go to matches all year
just costs too much on them , yet they buy a ticket for a once off concert
costing about 100-120 euro the same price and say sure thats a once in a year thing
which i then say costs exactly as much as a season ticket pass to a gaa county for the year plus club games.

Just a bit boring when lads are wrestling but that's all well planned and tactical. For me it's better to watch when they're on their feet either boxing and kicking. MMA has taken a lot of interest away from boxing in US because of alleged corruption and juicing in the professional game. I can see why some don't like McGregor, fairly un-Irish in his arrogance. He reminds me of Eubanks or Naseem back in the day. He's a positive guy who has already admitted he's in it for the quick bucks. The Yanks love him so no matter how his first title shot goes he'll be a wealthy man. He'll easily sell out Croker, would be great for shops, pubs, restaurants and hotels in Dublin. More power to ya Conor.

I'm not sure UFC is popular enough in Ireland to sell out Croker although McGregor is undoubtedly very marketable. From a personal point of view, I've given UFC a chance but it really does look like a failed boxers sport to me, unfortunately boxing is run all wrong but I think it's a far more entertaining sport than MMA.

If the refs placed a limit on the amount of time fighters spend on the ground itd go a long way imo.
I hate it when two guys end up grappling on the ground for 3 or 4 minutes at a time. Boring.
