Your club should have gave Jim and the boys afew pointers on how to defend after the Donegal performance against Mayo last year.

Whether Dublin win by a point, or demolish Meath or a draw, still be a great day out, with both teams giving it everything, bring up past memories, and the banter...

3 Leinster titles in a row all at the expenses of Meath
That would be a nice thing to do...
Just hope Dublin put in a decent rounded performance - from start to finish
Dublin haven't really put it all together in the last two finals - although we were 10 points up in 2012 before dropping men behind the ball
Hopefully we can see a more complete performance

All we need is a 70min performance Jimbo - cant ask for anymore than that.
The lads still look hungry for more success and there is a steely determination about them once again this year.
We still haven't started our best 15 this year, and will really begin to crank it up now we have reached July.
Jim will have them ready for this and complacency & lack of appetite will Not be a factor at all for us.

Ah now bluewave, don't be like that. It doesn't suit you.
Once people start digging through the historical archives to support their argument then you know it's paper thin stuff.
The point has been made here on many occasions & indeed on "off the ball" last night that we won't truly know how great this Dublin team are until they come up against a team with a real defensive plan.
For my part I have my suspiciouns about them but until it happens we won't know.

Muck Now now ;-) , I heard the Off The Ball remarks to be honest I take it all with a pinch of salt this Dublin panel is sheer quality if they retain Sam Off The Ball and the like will claim it's a poor era for football rather than acknowledging their ability. Even if Dublin don't win Sam again this year they have collectively provided some great football and have reminded the rest of the country that attacking football can flourish. The very fact that people are starting to realise no team can go man for man with Dublin shows how great the panel is in my eyes, bring on the blankets and the sweepers I think ultimately they won't stop Dublin if they do FairPlay to them, I can't see it especially with the introduction of the black card. Off The Ball claimed Gavin's Dublin had not faced a blanket defence , have they not played Donegal , Tyrone , Derry etc in the league in recent times Mayo also flooded their defensive lines during the final last year !?

- Absolutely, under Gavin we've really only seen that couple of times... and they were both in the league!
The lads still look hungry for more success and there is a steely determination about them once again this year.
- No question about that in my mind, the league form proved that... it was a complete sea change of attitude and application when you compare it to our 2012 form.
... I would just very much enjoy if it all came together against Meath, not to peak too early but seriously... Meath will be licking their lips anticipating the usual slow start from Dublin, I don't think we can afford to give them that sort of room. They had some greedy / poor shot selection against Kildare which cost them at least 3 goals, I think they'll finish those chances against Dublin.
So we have to be better...

I'd be just curious about Dublin's motivation in Leinster these days, ok playing Meath in a Leinster final is motivation enough for a lot of Dublin fans and players and nobody likes losing, even challenge games you still go out to win so there's no problem there.
But having won the Delaney cup every year since 2005 bar 2010 of course you'd have to question whether or not Dublin are bothered at this stage, Dublin v Meath is a great historical game and means everything to Meath fans but realistically the Dubs will have bigger fish to fry and will very much be expecting to topple Meath by 10pts +. Obviously I sincerely hope that doesn't happen but for the neutral and the sake of the Leinster championship I hope we're competitive at least.

To be honest bluewave I don't agree that this Dublin panel is "sheer quality". Going forward they are the best I have ever seen, no argument there at all. But defensively they are all over the place, conceding big scores from poor teams. There are subs a plenty for the forwards but if ROC gets injured then where is the like for like replacement? There isn't one.
As for the black card, that is a forlorn hope. The very presence of a blanket defence means that defenders are rarely isolated & put in a position where black cards are given away. Any of the top teams have taken the black card on board & adjusted accordingly.
And finally bluewave Dublin have not faces a real blanket defence in championship form yet. Derry don't use it at all & Tyrone have abandoned it to their detriment. Donegal don't use it in the league as the levels of fitness required are not there during the Spring.
I do agree with you that Dublin are a great team & I love watching them, but they are not unbeatable. The only question is whether a manager can come up with a strategy to combat them & can his team put it into effect. Time will tell.

Dublin, with the exception of the 1995 Leinster Final rarely hammer Meath. We always get a game off ye and I wouldn't be expecting a 10 plus point win on the 20th...although I really hope we do :)

Not too confident of victory. But once the team and management perform to what they can I won't complain. That's all we can ask for.

U-21 All Ireland final - Gavin v McG - Who won that game?
Football v blanket...
Many of the current crop of Dub players played in that game...
Many of the current crop of Dublin players played in 2011 in the most ultra blanket ever seen - Who won that game?
So I don't buy into your idea... also you don't have the panel to keep up what we'll throw at you...

Jesus jimbo, between U21 games & semi final's from 2011 this is more like a history lesson than anything else!!
What happened three or four years ago has no relevance to 2014, teams have moved on, managers have evolved their thinking & a lot depends on the bounce of the ball on any given day. All I would say about those two games is that there wasn't a lot in either of them & I would take being that competitive with this great Dublin team.
I agree that whoever beats Dublin this year will have to have everything go for them, Dublin are the best team in the country, but they are not unbeatable. No team is & for my part I would love to see a match up between us with both teams at full strength & on top of their form. I guarantee you this, there wouldn't be many watching the World Cup that day!!!!

Of course it does...
You say that this Dublin team has never come up against the blanket
It has... and it's prevailed.

Lads not been disrespectful, but what has Donegal and Dublin got to do with the Leinster final? Surely it would deserve its own thread and even I will contribute, but could we keep this one on topic

That's not strictly true. The u-21 full back, David Byrne, looks like the real deal and will be pushing ROC hard for the full back position soon if not already. He was very impressive in the u-21 campaign, though its a pity he was black carded so early in the u-21 final so he didn't get a chance to showcase his ability for the full game.

Haha, An U21, on his own on the edge of the square, against Murph. Yea I can see that working well for Dublin alright.
I rest my case.
