A return for the Australian Football League-run Combine is in the works.

The AFL seem to want a return of the international rules, Head hunting GAA talent is a big bone of contention. Strange they would announce this while trying to revive the series. Real red flag for the GAA.

They don't head hunt established Senior players.

They need players for the proposed new team in Tasmania I'd say. Ones that would be adaptable to the climate there which appears to be colder and windier than the Australian mainland. Who on earth would fit the bill for that criteria I wonder.

The worry is the AFL need to expand to compete with rugby league TV deals. They have said international rules are being brought back and state of origin revived so the can get a increase on the TV deal.

The GAA by playing this, will make big cash of the AFL. which will be spent on bringing more Irish men and women down under.

rugby league TV viewers are up and ahead of AFL. Increasingly the TV money is being directed to rugby league at the expense of AFL.

They are hoping to have the first international Aussie rules game in history, this march, between Ireland and Australia.

Ireland is a target and I don't understand why the GAA is helping.

That's not my point. The point I am making is it the GAA have something the AFL want (an international dimension) then you'd expect the GAA would use that as a bargaining chip to get the AFL to back off on recruitment.
