Conleth from what I've heard he is not on bench. Bray is on bench and that may be a change come 1.30 on sunday. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 29/06/2012 11:12:41 1204751 Link 0 |
Yeah, it is a pity. Would have been some battle with big Tom. From 1-9 Meath look as weak as I think I have ever seen them. Would be surprised if Kildare don't put a decent score in attack. If we lose at this stage you would nearly think it would have to be some absolute shoot out the lights high scoring performance where Meath get a good few goals. doublehop (Kildare) - Posts: 4172 - 29/06/2012 11:27:14 1204766 Link 0 |

Wow that is some injury list alright, even worse than ours last year when Dermot Early, Hugh Lynch, Peter Kelly, Mikey Conway and Ken Donnelly were all out with cruciate ligament injuries, (We still beat ye twice!) At least Peter & Mikey are back for this year, with Dermot & Hugie still making progress, Unfortunately Ken decided to call it a day. With all these Meath players out Kildare would have to be favourites, If Meath were to go out on Sunday, they would still be a force in the qualifiers if they get back to full strength, NorthKildare (Kildare) - Posts: 197 - 29/06/2012 11:29:52 1204768 Link 0 |
Forgot to mention Mark Ward and Tom Walsh, who are both midfielders, that brings the list to 11 injured and 2 that won't play. Also M Newman who was one of the best players in the Sigerson this year has made himself unavailable for this summer. If we had all these players I think we would beat Kildare, but thats not the case, so will just have to put up with it. Not making excuses, just stating facts. Hold on a minute. We knew all these players except two were missing already and it didnt stop certain individuals from saying Meath would win. Its a face saving exercise for the inevitable 'but we had a load of injuries' if you are defeated. sedico (Kildare) - Posts: 1682 - 29/06/2012 11:58:34 1204804 Link 0 |
Not going to ever make a prediction against Meath of all teams. They are unfortunate with injuries. Lets see how the game pans out. I will still have the same sick feeling of nerves as the teams run out. Hope the boys can do it. Looking forward to the game and equal respect to both teams. Hope it's a good one. No doubt Reilly is a loss and a big one. But who is to say the 21 yr olds wont come out with a 'devil may care' attitude. A lot of the time there is less pressure on the younger players. sedico (Kildare) - Posts: 1682 - 29/06/2012 12:21:33 1204827 Link 0 |
It's an horrendous list of injuries and even the best of teams (Cork, Kerry Dublin,) would be unable to compete with losses of that nature but I think the loss of Kevin Reilly is the worst of all, I would class him as one of the best full backs in Ireland and the only one capable of holding Tomas O'Connor. I see Paddy Power has pushed Meath out to 7/2, it must be as a result of the increasing injury list. OntheWhiteSide (Kildare) - Posts: 452 - 29/06/2012 12:42:52 1204847 Link 0 |

I for one have said that meath would win. Look back over any of my posts. But dear lord even me probably the most optimistic meath fan would have to say that the loss of kevin reilly who in my opinion is as onthewhiteside one of very few who could keep o'connor quite is a devastating loss to this team, probably another 3 points to kildares tally and perhaps a goal too. In what was going to be a tight match anyway that looks like a mountain rather than a hill to climb. He was also one of the best at getting the ball forward too so that cuts down the amount of possession the target men get. No matter how good they are if the don't get the ball it makes no difference. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 29/06/2012 13:04:55 1204877 Link 0 |
sedico - I agree they should just go out and throw caution to the wind. All Meath supporters can hope is that they do their best, and the experience will stand to them for the future, because they are all good footballers and they are the future. I would fear for them simply because they don't have experience at this level yet, and Reilly would make such a difference even if the players either side of him were 21. Ah Stop. In fairness Ross O'Carroll Kelly and Mc Gee got the better of him last year. He hasn't come up against Shields. doublehop (Kildare) - Posts: 4172 - 29/06/2012 13:35:22 1204906 Link 0 |
