Conleth from what I've heard he is not on bench. Bray is on bench and that may be a change come 1.30 on sunday.
But I think most will say kevin will play no part other than a spectator. Pity

Yeah, it is a pity. Would have been some battle with big Tom. From 1-9 Meath look as weak as I think I have ever seen them. Would be surprised if Kildare don't put a decent score in attack. If we lose at this stage you would nearly think it would have to be some absolute shoot out the lights high scoring performance where Meath get a good few goals.

Ah lads would yee ever stop makin excuses re injuires. At county level you should never be '' down a few lads'' as there is always adequate cover in county panels

Very unfair comment. Do you realise what players we are missing? O'Rourke, Reilly, S. Bray, D. Bray, Gilsenan, McGuiness, Reilly, G O'Brien, S Kenny. Paddy O Rourke won't play and we could do with his kickouts, King has left the panel. 7 of those players started against you in Navan last year. It would be same as you missing Doyle, Callaghan, O'Connor, Foley, MacLochlainn, McGrillen, Bolton. They all play in the equivilant positions as our injured players. Name one county team that is missing 10 players?

Now if Kildare don't score a load of goals on Sunday against this seriously inexperienced backline, then you may give up hope. Because if you don't score them against us you won't against Cork Kerry Dublin.

Reillys loss has changed the whole look of the backlines.Menton has to move to full back, and centre back is his best position. 4 of our backs are only 21 (Keoghan, Menton, Lenehan, Tobin), and 3 of those will be playing their first Senior game for Meath in Croke Park. Plus Lenehan hasn't really played much all year. On top of that McAnarney is really off the pace this year and hasn't played well at all but is only starting because he is captain. And I don't know what to say about Burke, I think O'Connor would be better than him. Those young lads are all excellent footballers and its not like they have appeared out of nowhere, they won a Leinster Minor a few years ago and they are the future of Meath football, but I think its too big of a step to have them all starting this big game. Then again we don't have much of a choice. I do hope they well, it will be a good experience for them anyway.

Wow that is some injury list alright, even worse than ours last year when Dermot Early, Hugh Lynch, Peter Kelly, Mikey Conway and Ken Donnelly were all out with cruciate ligament injuries, (We still beat ye twice!) At least Peter & Mikey are back for this year, with Dermot & Hugie still making progress, Unfortunately Ken decided to call it a day. With all these Meath players out Kildare would have to be favourites, If Meath were to go out on Sunday, they would still be a force in the qualifiers if they get back to full strength,

Forgot to mention Mark Ward and Tom Walsh, who are both midfielders, that brings the list to 11 injured and 2 that won't play. Also M Newman who was one of the best players in the Sigerson this year has made himself unavailable for this summer. If we had all these players I think we would beat Kildare, but thats not the case, so will just have to put up with it. Not making excuses, just stating facts.

Hold on a minute. We knew all these players except two were missing already and it didnt stop certain individuals from saying Meath would win. Its a face saving exercise for the inevitable 'but we had a load of injuries' if you are defeated.

Not going to ever make a prediction against Meath of all teams. They are unfortunate with injuries. Lets see how the game pans out. I will still have the same sick feeling of nerves as the teams run out. Hope the boys can do it. Looking forward to the game and equal respect to both teams. Hope it's a good one.

I for one never said Meath would win, I can think of a few posters who did though! My point is that it's amazing the way the absence of Kevin Reilly has changed our whole backline. We don't have a centre back because he has to play full back, they are only playing Mcanarney becuase he is captain and the biggest thing of all is our full backline consists of 3 players who are only 21, and one of them (Lenehan) hasn't really been given any game time all year!

No doubt Reilly is a loss and a big one. But who is to say the 21 yr olds wont come out with a 'devil may care' attitude. A lot of the time there is less pressure on the younger players.

It's an horrendous list of injuries and even the best of teams (Cork, Kerry Dublin,) would be unable to compete with losses of that nature but I think the loss of Kevin Reilly is the worst of all, I would class him as one of the best full backs in Ireland and the only one capable of holding Tomas O'Connor.

I see Paddy Power has pushed Meath out to 7/2, it must be as a result of the increasing injury list.

Ah Stop. In fairness Ross O'Carroll Kelly and Mc Gee got the better of him last year. He hasn't come up against Shields.

I for one have said that meath would win. Look back over any of my posts. But dear lord even me probably the most optimistic meath fan would have to say that the loss of kevin reilly who in my opinion is as onthewhiteside one of very few who could keep o'connor quite is a devastating loss to this team, probably another 3 points to kildares tally and perhaps a goal too. In what was going to be a tight match anyway that looks like a mountain rather than a hill to climb. He was also one of the best at getting the ball forward too so that cuts down the amount of possession the target men get. No matter how good they are if the don't get the ball it makes no difference.
There is only one thing for it go for goals everytime. If we get 2 goals in first 20 minutes or so then maybe the can turn this around.
I just want to wish the team well. They have put up with so much this year. The odds are stacked against them and I know they will go out on sunday all guns blazing with pride in the jersey and a fearless attitude. Said all ready this may not be the year for meath. But by god have a look at these players on sunday and know in a few years time , keoghan, tobin, forde, carroll, menton, biggy, gillespie, collins. Will be household names.
C'mon the royal

sedico - I agree they should just go out and throw caution to the wind. All Meath supporters can hope is that they do their best, and the experience will stand to them for the future, because they are all good footballers and they are the future. I would fear for them simply because they don't have experience at this level yet, and Reilly would make such a difference even if the players either side of him were 21.

Ross O'Carroll Kelly is a fictitious character and even if he was a full-back from Kilmacud playing for Dublin in 2011, I'm pretty sure O'Connor did not play that day. And in fairness to Tom he didn't go great that day against Donegal but he did of course score a good goal.
