Kildare's Johnny Doyle outfields Meath's Graham Reilly
Sunday will mark Johnny Doyle's 59th consecutive championship appearance for Kildare.
Incredibly, the Lilywhites talisman has played in every championship match for the Short Grass County since lining out against Louth in the first-round defeat to Louth in 2000.
His extraordinary run is now in its 13th year and, as he prepares to do battle with neighbours Meath at Croke Park on Sunday, the Allenwood dynamo told The Examiner that perhaps his weight - or lack of it - has contributed to the astonishing longevity:
"I'm probably carrying a stone more than when I started. I'm normally between twelve and twelve-and-a-half stone. When I started I was probably maybe ten-and-a-half or eleven.
"It's not a lot of weight for the joints to be carrying around so maybe that's the reason I've been injury-free. There's not much of a load to pull!"
