Seanie Johnston sitting on the Kildare bench

Everything else aside it was very bad judgment to have him sitting on bench when he is still a cavan player.

God if there's one thing worse than this whole mess it's reading the cringe-worthy attempts by other Kildare posters to justify it... Can ye not just think how much Fogarty's cameo must have meant to him after it went so well? Other Kildare players should not be denied this opportunity by someone who by his own admission "chose" Kildare:

Also let's all just admit the following:
- He has moved to transfer, not transferred because he moved
- His justification was he was dropped by Cavan management, that is no longer the case.
- The involvement of supporters groups in this move should rightfully be questioned by the appeals bodies
- Two wrongs don't make a right when talking about other other transfers

Is there honestly anyone who can genuinely say they disagree with those points?

Good post Doublehop, as a neutral I'd have to say the mentality of Johnston has been bizarre, if he where to pull that with Dublin I'd be campaiging outside Parnell park for a no vote along with Joe and the boys! but I am surprised at Geezer in that he is facilitating this and then doing one of the stupidest things in putting him on show on Sunday... I suspect Seanie will get his move but there will be repercussions down the road, and Geezer won't be at Kildare forever.

Excellent post doublehop. As a Cavan man living in Kildare I agree 100%

Personally I hope SJ fails in his attempt to transfer to Kildare as I don't like the way the whole thing smells. Also I believe we have enough talented forwards of our own without taking Cavan's cast-offs.

Cringe-worthy kildare posters..so whos that aimed at Double hop?! We are all entitled to express our own opinions just as much as you are but just because we may not agree with you it doesn't make them " cringe-worthy" Id like to know would you say that Kieran mc geeney if you got the chance to ask him what was his opinion on it!! At this point i'd like to reiterate what if in doubt said earlier on "Something like this will be far from the end of the GAA. I'd nearly love to see him get this transfer, purely to give the proverbial two fingers to the people who are messing him around in all of this"
Fully supporting kildare with an adopted player on it or not as always.
Cill dara abu!

You seem to miss the whole point of this discussion but your lilly white tinted glasses are giving you a myopic view. This whole move reeks of bull, from Johnston and dare I say it Kieran McGeeney's part. What about all the footballers from top to bottom in Kildare busting a lung to make the grade and they watch an outside manager bring in an outside player and try to wrap it up in "ah he just wants to play ball". If its a means to an end to shore up lack of talent one could try and overlook this whole dodgy affair, but Kildare seem to be alright on the players ability front. So whats going on here?

That ambitious mangers of Div 1 and 2 can gently help/manipulate situations like this? Is this setting a precedence? You support your club, you support your county, not get your knickers in knot when you dont get your own way and start whipping out brochure to see what county you fancy.

''Can you name me one? I'd say the last one was Sean Doherty and he was a half Dub Half Wicklow man anyways!

Are you for real man??? Sean Doherty is from Glenealy, Co. Wicklow and played senior football for Wicklow before becoming one of the best captains Dublin ever had!! Which half of him is Dublin???? No half I tell you. Still lives down here. His son Seán Doherty played and won County medals with Rathnew!!

If you want another example of Wicklowmen representing Dublin - All Ireland winner John Timmins, (former Wicklow Senior) and John O'Leary (Bray man, never played for Wicklow though.)

I have the kildare tinted glasses off. I just dont but the "He is going to rob a young players opporunity arguement. Kieran Mc geeney will give the young talent their chance if they work hard..train hard and prove themselves to him. Ahh look the last point I'll make on it is...
Hopefully the new cccc will end this saga soon and then everyone will know where they stand..build a bridge and move on from it

Think doublehop summed it up. Me and him would not agree that often but in fairness to him he has always been consistent on this issue. And if others had same reasoning this may not have reached this point.

But of course he will take the place of a Kildare Player regardless of what way you look at it. If a player has come through the system and is on the cusp of breaking into the panel and Johnston comes in and is selected instead, therefore is he not taking or as you put it 'robbing' that players place?

Look what do I care about this saga betweeen Johnston and McGeeney? I am not a lilly but I do care where this is going, and I my opinion its bad for the game and everyone involved.

1164816 So Tyrone, Meath & Dublin are all worried for the good and ethos of Kildare football.

What a joke. Yea their worried allright.

I advise Kildare folk to let them off and not to even answer their wumming posts.

Well said Kelf. Kildare are not the only ones at it.

Laois defeated neighbours Offaly in a challenge match which marked the official opening of Mountmellick GAA's new clubhouse last night.

While the Offaly team featured Niall Smith, Richie Dalton, John Reynolds and Ross Brady who all recently accepted an invitation from interim manager Tom Coffey to return to the fold, neither Ciaran McManus nor Niall McNamee played any part in the local derby clash.

Laois, who face a difficult Leinster SFC opener against Longford in a couple of weeks' time, laid the foundations for their victory in the first half

The Faithful responded with four unanswered points from Mark Dunne (who was facing his native county)

Niall McN is injured and has been doe some weeks so was not selected to paly (Team was announced & up on Offaly sites).

Big Mac is in the middle of exams so not available. I think he would be crazy to return to an extremely poor team.

Ye won by 2 points, not very promising for either county

I really hope this '' transfer'' does not happen. It goes against what the gaa is about. I will have to seriously consider whether I will continue to attend Kildare matches this seaon if its occurs.

Suprised SJ has not gauged how unpopular this move is with so many Kildare GAA supporters...what is he expecting? He might be sorry he didnt stay in Cavan

Johnson will only get on the Kildare team if he is good enough the Manager has already
said so and if thts the case Kildare fans should be happy to have him Taking the place
of a Kildare player is a load of bull he is bettter than most of the present Kildare panel.
Kildare would not have won there last 2 Leinster Titles without Lacey ODwyer Murpht
did they take the place of 3 Kildare players if they did they where better than what Kildare
had to offer
