He will definitely start. I don't think anyone is taking victory over Louth as a given. They are Leinster champions for a reason. But, IF we find ourselves in a commanding position with 10 or 15 minutes to go then I would say he will be given a rest. All depends on what's happening on the day.

I don't disagree with most of what you say but are you the self appointed spokesperson for the "people" of Donegal. I know people in Donegal who do care what "outsiders"(you're being very isolationist again) think. I also know Donegal people that don't fully support Jim, indeed there have even been Donegal people who criticised his comments regarding the venue. Maybe they are not Donegal people if they don't agree with you?

100%…the better team won and the fact is the damage was done losing at home to Cavan (who deserved their victory that day). Good luck to Donegal going forward. Mayo have a lot of soul searching to do for the next 6 months and a new management team.

What county are you from then? You can't have watched too many donegal matches if you think refs are afraid to book Murphy.

I have never heard anyone critise Jim. What he had done for football in Donegal on his first tenure and so far in his second tenure has been amazing and beyond our wildest dreams. The support that was is Hyde Park on Sunday was fantastic, particularly all the children. His critism was warnted considering most Donegal supporters had to travel for over 3 hours. Mayo do have soul searching to do but under new management and finding a few more players, particularly forwards you will be there or there abouts in 2026.

I have all always admired Jim, but his comments on the Hyde Park venue were laughable. There was no other suitable neutral venue available on Sunday. I have travelked all over Ireland to Monaghan games and an extra hour or so never bothered me. For anyone who thought it was too much the game was live on TV.

I don't think you can appreciate the difficulties we face in the north West in terms of infrastructure and services. The distances we travel to watch our team is a first world problem of course and isn't mandatory but I think what ****** so many of us off is that we're expected to just shut up and get on with it. We have travelled more than any county this championship and that's just life because we're farther away from Clones etc. On the one fixture where a small bit of consideration could have been given, it was as if our fixture was left till last to sort and we just had to lump it. There were other venues available to us but it was decided to assign those to other teams. Incidentally, you don't need to be close to the north pole for last Sunday to have been an absolute treck. By the time we got out of our car park in roscommon and stopped for ten min to eat on the way home we were just shy of five hours in the car. It took four hours on the way down. Just for once, one single fixture where there was leeway, it would have been great to have a slightly less arduous journey and not nine hours in the car.

I don't agree, I think Mayo already have the players, they only lost to us by 1 point and the game was level when the buzzer sounded on 70 minutes, they lost to Galway by 1 point in the Connacht final also, and beat Tyrone by 7 points in Omagh. All 3 teams above are purported to be All Ireland contenders, Mayo are clearly in that bracket, yet every other day I read comments that Mayo lack firepower or need forwards. I think the margins are very fine, maybe fresh management might shake things up for them. Commodore (Donegal) - Posts: 1385 - 17/06/2025 14:26:38 2618733 Link 0 |

On their last two championship visits to Croke Park they've been hammered out the gate by Dublin and Kerry. They can bring fire and brimstone and put it up to a team who's slightly not on it in the earlier stages but they quite obviously lack quality when it comes to a game where both teams are completely at it. Defensively they're actually well set up with some decent players and a good system but they're the lowest scoring D1 team by a mile this year on average. That's simply down to very mediocre attacking options. No D1 team would swap their attack for Mayo's and there's a host of D2 teams that probably wouldn't either

It is not the Gaa's fault that Donegal is a long county and takes nearly 2 hours to travel the 118km from Fanad to Bundoran. Only 74 miles from Bundoran to Roscommon town. Jim should just concentrate on football matters. letsgetgoing (Roscommon) - Posts: 762 - 17/06/2025 14:52:27 2618745 Link 1 |
Agree. Hard to fathom what happened to them v Cavan. Probably invested too much in the provincial final.

The natural progression of this whinge is that having Donegal home games in the "extreme east" of the county in Ballybofey is an obvious insult to the good people of Glencolmcille or Dunfanaghy for example. Breffni40 (Cavan) - Posts: 12400 - 17/06/2025 15:39:42 2618761 Link 1 |
We scored more than they did

McGuiness likening the trip from Hodson Bay to Hyde park to travelling from Omagh to Derry! What a plank. It's a 20 minute drive Jim get over it. Chops (Westmeath) - Posts: 824 - 17/06/2025 16:17:35 2618771 Link 1 |
Cavan are a good side. Do not let anyone tell you otherwise. sponger (Wicklow) - Posts: 2944 - 17/06/2025 16:18:34 2618773 Link 0 |
Cavan were much the better hungrier team on the day. The scoreline flattered us.

Well definitely could not have been played in Monaghan as all our stewards etc. are volunteers from the clubs and we would be attending the Monaghan game in Newry.
