If my calculations are correct my predicted 1/4 finals are:
Dublin v Tyrone
Armagh v Kerry
Donegal v Meath
Monaghan v Galway

Kerry, Donegal, Dublin and Galway will be expected to go through but anything can happen so I'm not writing off anyone.

Armagh can't play Donegal, Dublin or Galway again so it'll be a Kerry v Armagh quarter final if results go that way.
Donegal have played Tyrone in the group stage so I think that only leaves Monaghan or Meath for them. (They did play Monaghan in Ulster quarter final.)
Dublin and Galway can get Meath, Monaghan or Tyrone. (Dublin were beaten by Meath of course in Leinster but that was a semi final.)
Quarter final possibilities:
Armagh v Kerry
Tyrone v Dublin or Galway
Meath v Donegal, Dublin or Galway
Monaghan v Donegal, Dublin or Galway
Down, Cavan, Cork and Louth can upset that script of course.

If this years championship is anything to go by there will definitely be no shocks in this preliminary round. Dublin, Donegal, Galway and Kerry can put the feet up and prepare for the next round. Rotate their squad and get some minutes into the legs of their squad players. 4 amazing teams at the peak of their powers, kinda offensive they even have to play this round against various nobodies.

Is that because you think Dublin can't get Meath and Donegal can't get Monaghan because they played early rounds of provincial championships

I think they can

It's only repeat provincial finalists or repeat group teams that can't meet in Quarter finals, as far as I know.

So, Armagh couldn't play Donegal, Dublin, or Galway if all teams progressed. That leaves Kerry.

Donegal can't play Tyrone or Armagh
Louth can't play Meath or Monaghan
Dublin can't play Armagh
Galway can't play Armagh
Cavan can't play Tyrone
Cork can't play Meath
Down can't play Monaghan.
Kerry can't play Meath

If Donegal progress can they get drawn with Monaghan after them meeting in Ulster?

Yes. Only group matchup and provincial finalist repeats are avoided.

Dublin v Cork. - Dublin
Cork never back up a good performance - aren't about to change next week

Kerry v Cavan, - Kerry
Cavan are just not up to this level. Kerry wont get beat in Killarney.

Donegal v Louth - Donegal
Fortress Ballyboffey to be rebuilt next week.

Down v Galway, - Galway
Galway are hanging in by the skin of their teeth. Expect more of the same next week.

Armagh v Kerry,
Monaghan v Donegal/Dublin/Galway
Tyrone v Galway/Dublin
Meath v Galway/Dublin/Donegal

Only Galway have won a quarter final via the prelim qfinals - will likely see at least 2 more counties added to that list.

I'm thinking its Galway, Dublin, Armagh and Donegal in the semis - but would love to see Meath and Monaghan get into the semis.

can we all please spare a though for the CCCC today. it is going to take them the full day to simply select a few dates and times.

i hope they're being well fed and have their expenses paid for the day.

Louth could put it up to Donegal if they can get back to their Leinster championship form. Probably a good time to play Donegal after a gruelling game yesterday but can't see Jimmys men not getting through. Down might put up a bit of resistance to Galway but can't see an upset either. I'd fear for Cavan, Kerry you'd imagine will need a big response after the Meath defeat. Dublin to beat Cork fairly comfortable going by the quality of our game on Saturday. Unless Cork can put in a performance like they did against Kerry in Munster can't see them troubling the Dubs.

Monaghan won a quarter final in 2023 against Armagh after coming through a preliminary quarter final against Kildare.

Nice try Jimmy, but it doesn't wash anymore.

They're more likely spending their whole day working their full time jobs.

Then giving up their evening to meet to agree these fixtures.

It's a committee, not a fully professional company.

Kerry/Cavan....Cavan totally out of their deoth here.

Donegal/Louth... Louth still celebrating(and rightly so).... Donegal to pull away and win easily in the end.

Dublin/Cork....another bad day on the road for Cork.

Down/Galway.....this is the tie of the round. If Galway don't come with all guns blazing they will be in trouble. I expect Down to sneak the surprise in this one.

I don't think they can, even if they find that Leinster Final Form. The Leinster Final was Louth's All Ireland final, 60 years of hurt, revenge for 2010 and I'm sure they're still celebrating in Louth.

It's extremely hard to go from the heights of that, to being given a reality check in the group stages. I just can't see a world where they land a glove on Donegal, especially up in Ballybofey. Donegal are in siege mentality mindset and they'll be out to prove a few wrong. It's a huge ask for Louth, but they'll be relatively happy with their season.

Winning the provincials has proved to be a disadvantage this year, all 4 of them are in preliminary quarter finals this week.

Cork and Dublin will likely be in Croker Park, and I just can't see Dublin losing it. Cork have been very Jekyll and Hyde all year. They re capable of a big performance, and if there's going to be a shock result, it will be this game. But hard to look beyond Dublin.

I think Monaghan will lose their next game, and everyone else will win.

Why didn't they top their groups then if they're at the peak of their powers??
