Replying To Viking66: "They are in the minor premier shield final against the winners of St Josephs v St Martins. They were in division 1 at u14 Football also. so they arent doing too badly at underage football." Gusserane vs Castletown to meet in the senior semi-final and St Annes to meet St Martin's in the Intermediate semi final.

I thought Crossabeg might shock kilanerin but it was over as a contest in about 20 minutes. Kilanerin were awesome early on, their shooting was flawless. P Hughes and Mcgonagle impressed me, S forde bagged 4 goals and the game was up for crossabeg. Shels took a while to get started but when they did they were in control. Gorey had a few fine performers, especially Fitzpatrick, but shels experience told and they looked very tight as a team. Dorans red card was a killer for Gorey. Nothing else to report really, but I thought P Foley was v lucky to stay on for crossabeg, his tackle on Kinsella was a potential leg-breaker.

Forde scoring 4 goals for Kilanerin? Where have we seen that before? Is he a relation?

Kilanerin can take teams apart if you allow them to run at you. CB have good fooballers but perhaps not the tactis yet to crack on into the top 4. Castletown are masters at the defensive game so I suspect the Gusserane scoring machine will come under a lot of pressure. Still impressive scorelines from all the winning teams. Top 4 at the start of the year are still the top 4. Hard to pick the winners.

For me, castletown & gusserane are the 2 best I've seen this year, just a pity ( for neutrals) that they meet in semi. Could be 2 cracking semi finals though.

Think everyone expected the final 4, the only way it wasn't going to happen would have been if 2 had of met in a QF. If the weather is really good for the SFs I think Gusserane and Kilanerin have a chance. If not I'd fancy Castletown and Shels.

Looking towards this weekends games:
Kilanerin/Tara Rocks v Shelmaliers. I think the four best teams this year are into the semis but I expect Kilanerin to win this battle. They seem to be heading in the right direction and play a nice brand of football. Have been strong in U21 past few years also and this might be there breakthrough year. Shels are always there or there abouts, have a massive population base and have been replicating that by continually competing at senior level in both hurling and football. Kilanerin by 6.
Castletown v Gusserane Really looking forward to this game, the game of the weekend for me. Gusserane have been putting in a massive amount into there football this year and its been showing dividends, as they have breezed through the group and quarter final stage. Castletown can never be written off but I think Gusserane will be spurred on by last years loss and I think they will win this one.
Intermediate
Martins v St Annes Two former senior clubs, the winner of this for me will go on and win the final. With the Martins still in the hurling, their focus will be on that so I think the Annes will win.
Adamstown v Ballyhogue Both strong football areas, Adamstown impressive against Clongeen in the quarters, going to say Adamstown by 5.
Inter A
Cloughbawn v Bannow-Ballymitty Cloughbawns semi could of went anyway but they won there penalty shootout and are in the final. Bannow are probably a bit more seasoned and will have been concenbtrsting on football for a while, going to go with Bannow.
Junior
Buffers Alley v Our Ladys Island The Island wil have been concentrating on football for a while while the Alley will only start kicking a bit this week. Going to go with the Island
Blackwater v Castletown Going to say Blackwater as its their first team but i'd imagine it will be tight. Castletown going to try and achieve a Rathnure for three finals as they are in Junior B semis also.

Fancied a Kilanerin v Castletown final all year but wouldn't suprise me to see Shels upset the odds here. Hard to see Gusserane beating Castletown, thyere a seasoned team Castletown that I think will wear them down but won't be much in either way.
With the Martins being in the hurling final you would have to fancy the Annes. The other semi final isn't a foregone conclusion, they drew in the group stage and Ballyhougue were far better than the scoreline suggested against Fintans in the QF by all accounts and don't forget Fintans topped the group with the Annes.
Inter A ye would have to think Bannow, Harney a serious threat from 2 pointers alone, Cloughbawn have the distraction of the hurljng final.
Can see the island and blacwater coming through in Junior and Davidstown and Joseph's in Junior A.
Expect James and Duffry for Junior b.
Notable that we have a few clubs looking for a hurling football double still. The Martins are in 2 football semi finals. Davidstown in for a double still, Gorey still in the hunt with Junior a football and Junior b hurling. Cloughbawn still on for a double, duffry still an interest in Junior B football whilst Ballyhougue still in the mix for a double.
Be a huge boost for the likes of Davidstown and Ballyhougue having their first teams in both codes winning titles.

Kilanerin to beat the Shels by 2 or 3 points.
I would be worried about the lack of tough games for Gusserane, they were in the easier group and then had a easy win against Barntown in the Quarters so go with Castletown by 2 or 3.
St Anne's seemed impressive against Ferns and will have had 3 weeks solid of football now since they got knocked out of the hurling, Martin's probably will only see a football Friday night for the first time since their QF win. Annes to win by 4 or 5.
Adamstown have been going well, think they will have too much for Ballyhogue. Ballyhogue also still in the hurling so will be 50/50 training. Adamstown out of the hurling so full football. Adamstown by 4 or 5.
Intermediate A Cloughbawn by 1 or 2, thought the Duffry would have won this grade but knocked out by Cloughbawn.
Blackwater & Buffers Alley in Junior. Blackwater should win the grade but seem to find a way to mess it up every year.
Don't know much about Junior A but St Josephs on paper seem to be way too strong this year for the grade so should win it out. Paul Murphy only on the bench for North End and heard he is giving the GAA a good go for the Joseph's.
