GAA President - Jarlath Burns

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Im neutral in this "debate"but would say he strikes me as a man who has political ambitions beyond the GAA. If he didnt have another year of his own presidency to go I expect he would be top of the list of names being considered by a political party for running for the Aras.

Fed up with Burns another load of rubbish in his speech and he as good as wrote Michael Murphy's epitaph, He must be hoping Murphy retires again and Armagh might win Ulster on the back of it.

The GAA are an organisation entrusted since it was founded with the preservation and promotion of the 2 major Irish field sports. Both should be promoted equally.

The very fact that Jarlath is a mere mortal like the rest of us says quiet clearly that he is Not infallible.

I found his comments about Michael to be distasteful and badly timed to be honest. One of Michael's lowest moments of his career and the camera goes on him and he's on the big screen as Burns waxes lyrical about him. Even the applause for Murphy wasn't that big, I thought the crowd picked up on it not really being a good moment.

Everything Burns said about him was true, he is the greatest to ever play for Donegal, but Kerry had won Sam and had won it convincingly - there was no need to be going on about Murphy there. Felt like bad timing and a bit disrespectful to Kerry as champions as well to be honest

Even OTB mentioned this morning him calling out Murphy was ridiculous.

I'm sure you would have a different opinion to another high level president hogging limelight after a final in recent weeks or would I be a narcissist crank not to like that either"
Preposterous comparison.

Also OTB will talk about literally anything for clicks, especially while there's no premier league

So much misinformation in this post....

The CHEAPEST season ticket for Bayern is €170 (standing) that goes right up to under €1k for their most expensive tickets. And shur I suppose it's free to stay or eat in Munich or Benfica....

Even using your cost of 2k for a family of 4, that works out at 28eur a ticket (18 games x 4 tickets). Considering that you get all league game with your season ticket, I would question that cost... a football season ticket for a family of 4 is €360 (2 adults & 2 juveniles). Tell me this and tell me no more.... how much of your money for your Bayern season ticket goes back to the semi professional & amateur clubs in the region... 81% of your GAA ticket price goes back to all the county boards to pay for things like GPO's.

And you say the GAA is ripping you off? Pure gombeenism.

Nobody forces any of us to go to games.
It's our decision.

Some of these bucks would be better off closing the door and pulling the curtains over. Of all the things that one could describe as a 'rip off', supporting your national sport ain't one of them.

Burns seems to be just a bigger version of Brolly at times, too much to say and a lot of is bs.

Biggest moaners on here are those who seem to be big fans of current president. Jeez be positive folks, what's the issue if he's the best president ever!

Is there any actual point to this post bar it being an obvious dig at him?

They aren't. Not nationally. Of the 32 heads of games development only 4 or 5 come from hurling backgrounds. Numerous counties do very little to promote hurling at all, never mind equally.

"Hurling Backgrounds" is a very conceited phrase to be honest. Someone with a huge love for hurling and hurling promotion can be dismissed very easily as being from a "football background". Everyone involved has a GAA background and shouldn't be graded or labelled over an individual's preferred game.
