Any reasonable person knows hurling is far superior. People choose football because it's so much easier to be competing.

Jarlath Burns President of the GFA that's the reality.Luckily he won't be there too long but hurling people need to be alert to who the next uschtarain will be.

Still prefer Hurling myself, although Footballs rule changes have made it better than it had become over the last 20 years.

Sure he said last week that hurling final was the most important day in GAA calendar. He talks so m7ch he cantbremember what he said the week before.I honestly thought he would be a decent president but he is the most outright politician that has held the post.

Yes he reminds me of Declan rice when interviewed he will say what people in room want to hear. One minute he's saying no change in all Ireland dates on his watch Next time he's mentioning August finals to suit what some people want. I'm sure he's doing good work behind scenes and he is an excellent orator but I find him disengenious and feel he is using role for his own personal betterment jm25 (Galway) - Posts: 1638 - 28/07/2025 11:31:38 2628565 Link 1 |
Jarlath didn't present Gavin White with his MOTM award! Yikes! legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 9061 - 28/07/2025 11:37:30 2628573 Link 1 |

Burns is trying to prove himself. he will be running for the SDLP or Fianna Fail in the first election after the presidency ends. muckla (UK) - Posts: 372 - 28/07/2025 12:33:16 2628599 Link 0 |
Future tense, I can see burns once he finishes in this role I would be surprised if he is not running in the next general election or presidency following this one

Drop the Uachtarán's speech and just present the cup - a bit like another president recently who didn't know when to leave the stage to the players - keep the speeches for the agm. All Ireland day belongs to the players.

He's been an exceptional President and he will continue to be so.

I watched the game yesterday in a bar in the UK, and as the cameras turned to the presentation to show Burns with his trusty microphone in hand, 3 lads next to me almost simultaneously said "oh, not this fella again", and turned around to watch the women's soccer..... streaker (Galway) - Posts: 548 - 28/07/2025 12:50:25 2628615 Link 1 |
There's a real antipathy to Jarlath Burns because of where he's from. There's a rabid partitionist mindset amongst many in the South who just don't like anything North of Dundalk. That's the reality. Ulsterman (Antrim) - Posts: 9837 - 28/07/2025 13:06:02 2628625 Link 6 |
A give it a rest good lad. I have a huge amount of time for him as do most GAA people I know. Not everything is as simple as it seems in your head. Some people didn't like him getting involved in the Rory Gallagher issue. Rory's from Fermanagh by the way. If anything Jarlath has actually shown an empathetic ear to the loyalist community, which flies in the face of your theory. The previous GAA president got more stick, purely for being uninspiring and seemingly having little to say on any matter. He was from Cork. Baloney, Peter Quinn was well regarded. But maybe you're too young to recall that
