Not sure about 10k Wexicans. I'd be expecting 10k total myself.

But Kilkenny weren't gone. You can talk about 'ifs and buts' for every season, until the cows come home. Wexford would have been playing in the Joe McDonagh Cup this season if hadn't been for a couple of late points against Kilkenny in the final group game last year. All that matters is what actually happened, the final score. Not speculation and conjecture about what might have been. Leave all that for the high stool experts. Massive game against Kilkenny, a win for Wexford is era defining, a win for Kilkenny is just another Leinster Final BUT still at home they will not want to lose. IF we can go there and get a win, we should be able to mix it with anyone and the sky is wexford2012 (Wexford) - Posts: 85 - 20/05/2024 22:02:59 2546021 Link 0 |
I'd be shocked if there was only 10k at the game . There was 13500 in Nowlan park two years ago when we were on the back of a draw to Westmeath and could finish no higher than 3rd . Think 2018 saw an attendance of around 18000 when a Leinster final place was up for grabs so I'd expect something similar Sunday

Hope you are right. It will depend on the Kilkenny supporters coming out. Hopefully we travel better than we have in recent years. There were only 8000 odd in the Park last year and a reasonable amount of that were from Kilkenny.

The point is you put out your strongest available team in Nowlan Park in 2022, and they prepared and played as if their Liam McCarthy future that year depended on a win, because it did.

I thought it was nearly 10k in the park last year and that was on the back of our worst championship loss possibly ever. Im just hoping the momentum build after Galway and Carlow and the Leinster final place on offer will entice a huge Wexford crowd to go get behind the team.

There was not 10k Wexford people in Wexford Park last year for arguably the biggest game in Wexford hurling history in terms of the implications. What makes people think there will be 10k in Nowlan Park? StoreysTash (Wexford) - Posts: 1768 - 21/05/2024 09:54:38 2546066 Link 0 |
You are right there was 9725. I must of been thinking there was 8000 odd of us there. So ok maybe there will be 12-15000 odd in Nowlan Park. I really hope our supporters travel, it could mean the difference between winning and losing on Sunday.

There was probably 4-5k of us in Carlow so would be great to get a bigger crowd to Nowlan Park

I was surprised by how many Wexford people there were at the Carlow game, thought we were going to be out-numbered ElGranSenor (Wexford) - Posts: 332 - 21/05/2024 11:27:04 2546104 Link 0 |
Wexford support teams once their is a sniff of a big result. I'd say a big Wexford crowd will travel, Kilkenny like to wait for the final. ExiledInWex (Dublin) - Posts: 1242 - 21/05/2024 11:34:13 2546108 Link 0 |
Thats great to here hopefully you are right. Hopefully its a fine day too always brings out more supporters. Any news on Jacko's injury lads? Fantastic to here Dee O is contention . If he is fully fit his leadership could be vital coming off the bench down the home stretch.

I would also like to reply to the Carlow poster above. I have sat with Wexford fans for over 25 years at various matches and can count one one hand the amount of negative experiences I have had with them, even when shouting against them and completely out numbered by them. Agree exiled. Why oh why are munster teams never relegated. Do they see themselves as untouchable. Tipperary finished bottom yet like all the years before with other teams are left in the top flight. How can they justify this. Do they think they are above us in leinster? Limerick are of course fantastic but Cork haven'twon an all ireland in donkeys years. Waterford not since 1959. Tipperary have fallen quite dramatically and are no longer " The home of hurling" Clare won an all ireland in 2013 but in recent years are very much in the shadow of the great Limerick side. It's about time munster were brought back down to earth and made to introduce regulation. Now before any of you munster men and women tell me that leinster are no great shakes either, i would agree but its all about equality and fairness. What's good for the goose is good for the gander as my mother used to say. Magpie2 (Wexford) - Posts: 381 - 21/05/2024 12:29:17 2546129 Link 0 |
No reason you can't beat Galway. You have all your best players fit and firing, and your pace and aerial ball winning ability will trouble them.

I don't think that's correct. They opened the gates before the throw in because huge numbers were late.

If there's only 10k there on Sunday Leinster might as well give up. I'd be expecting 15k+. There was a surprisingly big Wexford crowd in carlow and as another poster suggested once wexford sniff a chance they travel well. Hopefully that's the case on Sunday. Seen an article from our league meeting in February there was 8,224. Surely there will be near double there Sunday

The stand wasn't full in that game. And the open side wasn't full either.
