Replying To WanPintWin:  "I couldn't disagree with any of that, but I'd like to get your thoughts on why this is the case? Meath and Kildare are punching so far below their weight, it's almost embarrassing. I'm not trying to stick the boot in, I'd like to see both of them competitive again.
We heard for years that it was because Dublin were so far ahead, but I never bought that as they even struggled to make any impression in the league, while much smaller counties like Monaghan and Roscommon have been much more competitive.
Now Dublin are firmly back in the pack for a couple of years, yet Meath and Kildare actually seem to be getting worse.
Looking at both counties, they seem to have all the ingredients. Football pedigree (especially Meath), plenty resources and a large pick, relative to a lot of other counties."
The sad thing is a declining Dublin team will dominate Leinster, until Meath and Kildare get their footballing house in a place to win a provincial title. The other counties should be improving their sides to compete in the province.

Louth are flying! Another great win and this time without Sam Mulroy in the line-up. Mickey Harte is working wonders.

Sensational stuff in Ardee, Louth missing Sam Mulroy (by far there best player) and Casey Byrne (was meant go back AFL but decided to stay n got horrible injury in 1st league game)
To do this without them is remarkable

2 league debuts off the bench too cause other injuries, lads who havnt even made match squad so far

Mickey Harte is the best manager in the country, no question

Now, that's the way Amhrán na bhFiann ought to be sung.

Great win for Leitrim to keep their promotion hopes alive after it looked like they had let Laois off the hook. Should be a great battle with Sligo in Carrick next week.

We're Cork not down to 14 for half the match?

We were indeed, to a similar elbow to the jaw of a Louth player. However, just like v Meath, while it helped it wasn't the main reason for Louths Victory. Well organised defence and hunger got us over the line.

Yes they were but not Louths issue if someone on the cork team chooses to throw a lousy elbow into someone's head. You can only beat what's in front of you. Great league campaign for Louth irrespective of the result next week.

Some people in Tyrone couldn't wait to get rid of Micky Harte . In his final year 2020 he had Tyrone bouncing , beat Dublin and Kerry in the league before covid hit. Fully deserved another year but wasn't to be. If Louth beat the Dubs next week they'll be the best team in Leinster.

Louth wer also down 14 men for 10 mins in second half so was 14 V 14 for 1/3 of 2nd half

Don't be jealous Louth have overtook Meath as the better team

Looks like limrik footballers are relegated with -60 score difference and still one more league game left! That's the worst score difference in all 4 Divisions!!!
What happened and how are they so bad!

Mayo into the League Final, but what a final round of games next Week in Div 1!!!!
Tyrone, Roscommon, Kerry and Galway could possibly all finish on 8pts each but only IF Tyrone, Roscommon and Kerry all win!
A Draw will be enough for Galway to get into the League Final.

If Monaghan, Donegal, Armagh and Galway win next week then Monaghan, Tyrone, Roscommon and Kerry all finish on 6pts each to decide the 2nd Relegation spot on score difference!!
So one of Tyrone, Roscommon or Kerry could possibly get to a League Final or be Relegated!!!!!

Hard to know. One point would be the standard of club football in Meath is not what it should be. Second would be that very little investment in underage game for years then add in to that the amount of Dublin people living in both Meath and Kildare who'd prefer to wash their eyes out with vinegar than have their kids play for Meath or Kildare. You could combine them 3 things and you get a perfect storm. But there's more to it too. Colm is one of the greatest players to ever play the game, and a good pundit too. But the style of play he is trying to install went out years ago and is not playing to our strengths, it's his first year. But he needs to learn and adapt asap or we will have wasted 2 years. We have some top quality players coming though the u20s ranks this year and next that would grace any senior team in country. So we need the right management for them. So far Colm's report card reads must try harder

Louth's progress has been really impressive. They probably needed top 4 in Division 2 to virtually guarantee All-Ireland qualification. I didn't think they'd finish higher than 6th. Full credit to them.

Looking forward to next Sunday. Should be a biggish crowd given the novelty of a meaningful game between Dublin and Louth.

Was wracking my addled brain, and I think 1973 was the last time Louth beat Dublin in league or championship when Louth won in Navan in Leinster quarter final?

How about play offs for promotion between the 2nd and 3rd placed teams in Divisions 2, 3 and 4? A play off 'final' would be a more meaningful and high stakes contest than league finals, where both teams are already promoted. The division winners would be automatically promoted. It would mean they would potentially have to keep playing until the last game to guarantee finishing top rather than having to go into a playoff. It could also potentially give mid table teams something to aim for, knowing that 3rd place could give them a chance of being promoted. Thoughts?
