I wonder if the reason jacob didn't get the job was that there was too much of an oulart influence over county teams?

That doesn't look great from the outside. What exactly was his role as "Skills Coach" though?

I take back the bit about it not looking great. He's stepping away from his club job also.

Pity but I'd still have faith the rest of coaching ticket put together will do the upmost to get the most out of the players.

There was one announced at the last County Board meeting. Can't think of his name, and wouldn't be overly familiar with anyone in that field myself anyway, but seems there's one in place in any case. Will try find out the name.

Is Rossiter going down the old bring in a few lads off the football panel trick. Definitely not a great way to start.

How can Flannery be put forward, ratified and listed as being part of the setup (regardless of role) and then doesn't take up that role due to "work commitments"... essentially our inter county set up is 3 ex Wexford players with no proven track record , Dessie who did well with Oylgate and then an Offaly man in Franks as the only coach with proven track record but not at intercounty.... and the under 20 set up is worse...

Not from what I've heard. Plenty of new names getting their chance though.

Ah Jaysus, not this one. Is a county hurling manager not allowed to at least look at everybody he thinks might be able to bring something to the squad, just because some of them are already involved with the footballers?

I honestly can't remember if Lee Chin first played hurling or football for Wexford. But let's say it was football, and your way of thinking applied. Would it have been right to stop Chin from playing hurling for Wexford, just because he said "yes" when the football manager came calling first?

Have you even thought of how a policy of stopping hurling managers from looking at football squad members might even be detrimental to the football squad in the long run?

Consider a young lad who's good in both codes, and who has ambitions to play for the county. The football manager contacts him first, and asks him to join the squad. He thinks "oh, I'd love to. But if I say yes and get on well with the footballers, then the hurling manager won't be allowed to call me in if I go well in club hurling this year. So I'd better say no to football, just in case."

Would you want that to happen?

Rossiter has 5 years with Davy's set up and 2 years managing the u20s under his belt, Franks has 2 years with the u20s aswel as probably the most professional club set up in the country in Ballygunner, Eanna Martin was involved in top level intercounty as a player until 3 years ago and 2 years since with the u20s, Mythen doesn't have much experience but you hear nothing but good things from Oylegate, Jason Ryan has a wealth of intercounty and club experience in both codes. I don't think we're doing too bad on paper...

The big thing they all lack is experience of actually winning an AI as intercounty management.......but hopefully that will change in the future.

I hope you're right - I forgot about Ryan and he will be a great addition.
