Replying To hurlorhurley:  "Was not a surprise at all, this team has been very good all the way along despite having players handpicked away by the hurling set ups.
Two wins this year now for them and one suspects the more games they get the better they will get.
Am I right in saying there is a Rathnure man and Buffers Alley man on the team?"
Yes and centre back and midfielder from Oilgate and Kilrush/Askamore.

Great to see, players from all clubs in these teams, similar to minor hurling where its a fantastic spread.

i think as a result of the split season your going to see a lot of lads coming into the u17/u20/senior teams from hurling clubs

Yes but is it not the best 3 from the 4 groups as they have to accommodate NY

Short answer is three go through from most groups.

Longer answer is:
- top team in each group goes straight through to a quarter-final
- second team in each group goes to a preliminary-quarter final.
- the three third-placed teams with the best records also go to a preliminary quarter-final. The third placed team with the worst record loses out.
- New York also join at preliminary quarter-final stage. They're the reason one of the third-placed teams has to go.

We've a relatively tough draw and third place might not even be good enough to qualify, but let's hope it doesn't come to that.

How so? they don't split the Underage, well they do play the u20s over Christmas so I guess that is a split. IS there something planned differently this year?

Think Leitrim were toughest draw from pot 4, could have been alot tougher the other side, Offaly or Down from pot 2 would have been tougher than Antrim, while I think avoiding Cavan was everyone's hope from pot 1, will be very interesting to how Meath perform given the recent struggles they've had.

wonder will he keep "the powder dry" v fermanagh, and hold back returning lads for antrim and leitrim, no point risking injury to vital players, the great news is coleman is back, played half game last week

That is good news. Maybe an idea to play anyone who is fully fit to get them up to speed? Especially Porter who has been out a long while.

Hard to know if the team announced is what will start. From what everyone said Coleman is gone for the season so why is he in the subs. I guess its wait and see.

I cant see that team starting at all, brooks will start in goal, coleman, porter and liam o connor all have to be very close to starting unless they been held back because of fitness issued, lyons wont start
