Replying To Cbar:  "DOC went off injured. Any update on him?

Or Tommy C?"
Tommy might be back for second group game according to Ah Ref.

Time to move on.
Give Cavan game a serious effort, then rotate squad for the next two, hopefully trying to get the scoring rate up.
Rock up to prelim final v Rosie's/Cork/Meath/Louth and get back at it fresh and raring to go.
There won't be SAM but that doesn't mean, with some clever game management and a good draw (prelim away to Rossie's and q final v Monaghan) we can't have a good shot at an All Ireland semi.

Why do you think you'll be playing someone from our group for definite in the prelim? Galway came second in group 1 last year and ended up playing Monaghan from group 4.

I meant the value of them. There's barely any reward for the winner.

Cavan were pushing for promotion from Division 2 and have serious aspirations of getting out of our group. Definitely not a team to be taken lightly.

"rotate squad for the next two". Are you suggesting that we shouldn't even try to beat Tyrone or Donegal?

IMO making a preliminary QF, a QF or even a SF by playing bad teams along the way won't do anything for this team.

The only chance of salvaging something from this season is by going out there and beating quality teams such as Tyrone and/or Donegal which unfortunately, given Sundays result I don't see happening but they have to put best foot forward.

Is it 6 Years now Rochford has been involved with Mayo as manager or selector and they have not won a Connacht title?

Correct.

What that story doesn't tell is just how well Mayo performed in the AI finals in 16 & 17. Of all the AI final appearances that Mayo have had since 89, those 2 years were probably the best they performed. And I think that probably brought some good will in Mayo.

But yes, unfortunately for Roch - 6 years involved and no Connacht title.

Fair point. This is year 6. Hard to know who is running the show this year. Yer players know Davy Burke is the boss. Galway players know it's Padraig Joyce. McStay talks to the media but who's the man that the players look to as the boss?

Provincial title and bragging rights. Should be taken out All Ireland no route to All Ireland, no seedings. Play a few league rounds, start the provincials. Finish up last three or 4 rounds of the league close to championship with seeding for previous Tailtean winners and top 15. Could make the league more competitive up until last round. Then All Ireland is knockout football. None of this staggered breaks for teams before All Ireland dependant on the length of their provincial competition.
