Monaghan would be well using McManus and Darren Hughes as impact subs. They are 36 in 2023. Karl O Connell and Kieran Hughes not far behind

Seamusorinn a ball hasn't been thrown in yet and your criticism of our new manager is pathetic

There is no instead! what "instead" ? their trip was in place long before Vinny was.. Stop with the Fake News stories.

Wish Vinnie and the team all the best. Element of continuity here given he was involved the last two years under Banty. The older lads staying on is important but I'd expect they will be used sparingly as a bit of trust and faith in newer lads is needed now to be the leaders of the side.

Andrew Woods stated nothing of the sort, he dropped out for work reasons. Niall and Ryan's plans were in place long before Vinny was appointed and we wont be the only county to lose players who want to travel now that Covid is less of a factor. Starting to wonder if you are a troll.

Few of you boys would wanna grow up and put on your big boy pants. If you's think 3 players, all either in their prime or starting to break into the team, leaving the panel the same year we get a new manager is just a coincidence and the decisions were made before the appointment was made goes to show what planet yous are on.

May not like it but these are the facts. As for the argument of continuity, we were terrible last year, anyone involved should have been shown the door. Keeping the 2nd or 3rd coach on and giving him his FIRST EVER MANAGEMENT ROLE is and was a act of desperation which will fail, mark my words.

Obviously English is not your first language if you believe any where in my posts I have criticised Vinny. I wish him all the best and will be at every game supporting him. I do believe he has been handed a "pig in a poke" much of it due to the last Incompetent manager. I have also stated for Vinny's own sake the opportunity is too soon. Having seen Vinny work with underage players in the past,I always hoped one day he would be our county manager, just not in the way he was landed in the job. That is no reflection on Vinny but rather on your buddies in the CB.

One of the worst posts ever on this thread! Word was out about McAnespie and Kearns leaving the country about 4 or 5 months ago, long before Vinnie was announced. I also highly doubt Woods has a problem with Vinnie, you're making it out as if he made a public statement that he refuses to play under Vinnie Corey!
Realistically, this year we are getting relegated from Division 1 and losing in the first round of Ulster. I firmly believe that no matter who the manager is, this would have been the most likely outcome. People need to wake up and smell the coffee- Our golden generation is over and the talent is not there anymore.

Agree with this. We aren't going to perform miracle escapes every year and the sad truth is that any established manager took one look at us and passed. Also, our luck on getting handy draws in Ulster came to a shuddering halt. This is no reflection on Vinny . Its just how it is. Galway had 3 starters in All Ireland Final from Salthill in 2018. We started 10 v Derry. We've been kicking this can down the road for a few years now, and it's going to happen.

Few thoughts to above posts. Think Vinny might end up doing a lot of thankless work for the next man with introducing players. We probably have placed too much importance on staying in div 1 and have kept going back to the same well over and over with same players in league and championship. The core of the side probably peaked in 18 with nothing since bar few flashes that kept us up and a run to 2020 ulster final. We have had good recent underage success but for whatever reason not enough of those players have graduated to senior intercounty level. The demands are massive on inter county players these days and a small county like monaghan were v fortunate to have the core dedicated group we had for past 10 15 years.

The few lads leaving the panel was always going to happen during the transition to new management - given the demands of the modern day gaa and the current economic climate in Ireland, young fellas are mad to get away and the end of a managerial cycle is the perfect opportunity for lads to make a clean break and get away. The group of players still remains strong with a nice blend of youth coming into the mix.

Some of the managers that had their heads up for the job were miles off the standard required and would have lead to a complete exodus of talent - both young and old. Thankfully the county board released a statement during the managerial selection process which publicly annihilated any chances of one or two of these clowns getting the job and stopped any premature retirements.

I think what people here are forgetting is that Monaghan football has rarely been able to rely on its talent alone, and this isn't soccer where a new manager comes in and buys a bunch of players and makes a team look good on paper - Monaghan football is renowned for its togetherness and hard work, with each player giving everything to the cause and I don't see Vinny changing that. Vinny was always the hardest working player on any team he was involved with and had a career playing at the top level with loads of success. In my view he's the perfect choice for the job given where Monaghan football is at - and anyone writing him off before a ball has been kicked clearly has some skin in the game and wants to see him fail, and to that I say you're no Monaghan supporter and you should stick to your soccer.

Totally agree with your post look what happened when Banty was pushed over board by certain people that seamusorinn usa knows well when a new manger was appointed and the team ended up in division 3 after he shafted some players let's show our support for vinny and turn out for our first game against Down in the mc Kenna cup

People may not want to read this but the greatest chances of intercounty success next year will probably be the senior hurling team. It would be great to see people get behind them whether they go all the way to Croke Park or not.
